Lots of stuff - Ole Miss, Tulane/Memphis, UNLV/AF

WSU is already scheduled to play on the weekend that Ole Miss needs to fill.

Tulane, Memphis, and UNLV should be the target additions. Air Force doesn't bring anything to the table in terms of market, and unfortunately, that's all that matters now.
Not a problem. Get the Mean Green to push that game back a week (they have a bye) and plug in Ole Miss. Hell they already have 7 home games, maybe they will come out here and play us.

Which brings up another point. If you peruse various teams' 2025 schedules, most are filled. Cal and Stanford being exceptions, and both of which have only 5 home games. The WSU has some heavy lifting to do to get 6 more games scheduled. All the more reason to grab UNLV and ?, stand pat at 8, and focus on the 2025 schedule.

Ok, nothing groundbreaking today except that the Six-Pac meets this week (tomorrow), apparently to discuss next steps in expansion. Here's my thoughts:
  • Ole Miss and 2025 schedule. It has been quiet for WSU on the scheduling front. If Teresa/Anne can cobble something decent together, I will rescind my negative opinion of them. Somewhat. Wake Forest dropped the Ole Miss away game in favor of an away-and-home with Oregon State, which WF said was more lucrative. Not sue how visiting OSU is more lucrative than going to Ole Miss, but hey. So WSU should be talking about going to Oxford as a replacement game. With 3 home games so far, I think WSU will be lucky to land 5 total. If we have to play two FCS teams (already have Idaho) that will suck, but I see it coming
  • Memphis and Tulane. I don't want them. Too far away, and don't tell me they are a better catch than UNLV. Plus, I can't stand the thought of Mik rubbing my nose in it for ridiculing his notion of luring them in for months. But all the chatter is about them this week
  • UNLV and AF. This is the no-brainer to get to 8 teams. Especially UNLV. There must be something going on behind the scenes here. They are smack dab in the middle of the Six-Pac. How can we possibly not get them on board? But IMHO that means getting another MW team. I don't see any of these Eastern prospects (T/M or the Texas possibilities) coming alone. So get UNLV and if AF won't come, then Wyoming or whoever. One bottom feeder won't kill us. More important to get to 8, take a breath, get the 2025 schedule hammered out and consider other schools at our leisure. But UNLV is a must have, even if it means taking Reno too.

Dare to dream…

We can do this because we are fans…players…go 1-0 on Friday night please.

But…this is pretty cool, I’ve never played with it before. According to ESPNs playoff predictor we have the highest probability of any P4 team. Their computer has us making the playoffs even if we lost a game to FSU, BSU or OSU. And if we ran the table being a 5 seed. Now that I’ve jinxed us, enjoy the rest of your day.

Good Dickert interview...

We should all be grateful.

We need to savor this moment now, as we all know, a pickup truck full of cash is on its way, come late November./early December. Very sad. Unless....and I mean unless.....he is The Mark Few of Washington State.

He very well could be a semi Mark Few of WSU. Leach turned down money for 8 years, before he left to Miss St.

If WSU goes 10-3, 11-2, 11-1, 12-0, AND if Dickert is offered enough money, if ever there was a WSU coach that could temporarily turn it down, and stay for 3,4,5,6,7 more years, before finally taking the money, going elsewhere, it's Dickert.

And that's because Dickert was born and raised in a small country town in Wisconsin, and played College football, and coached at small country town colleges in Wisconsin, Wyoming.

He truly sincerely loves WSU, Pullman. His wife, family love WSU, Pullman, his kids are in the Pullman public school system, and love it.

And in a interview Dickert had with various credible sources, Dickert told them that he didn't want to have a lifelong career of being a College Football HC, NFL coach, and that there was more important things then money, and that he might probably retire semi early from WSU, and might probably retire semi early being a College Football HC, coaching etc, after enough time, and then choose to do something else, other things with his life. But that for a semi long time, he likes, is going to be a College HC, WSU HC, etc.

Now that could change, and maybe that does change. Maybe he stays for a while like a Semi Mark Few. Maybe he leaves after 2,3,4,5,6 years, etc.

So WSU could have Dickert for 2,3 years to 5 years to 7 years to 10 to 13 years, before losing Dickert to either more money as a HC at a BIG TIME College, or to Semi Early Retirement.

However long Dickert Stays at WSU, WSU will be lucky to have him.

Buying a $27 ticket to WSU vs SJSU, if I can get a ride from Spokane.

Agreed. Any of the ticket websites...Stubhub, Ticketmaster....will substantially drop the prices the evening before or the morning of the game.
Assuming Mik can use phone for internet, I would go to the stadium and buy one that is for sale outside. Always a few folks selling extras there, stubhub would be backup plan.

WSU has to do whatever it takes to retain him until we start competing in the reformed league.

Man, I don't know if AI could have designed a better coach for WSU than Coach Dickert. We need to be enjoying these times with him, he is going to be a great one.

Tennessee to add 10% 'talent fee' to tickets to fund players...

Who decided a 90-10 revenue split was fair?

Why not 50% of revenues for the players like in the other Professional sports?

I don’t see the Players Union signing off on this. I think the players will STRIKE for a fair split.
Wait until they all go on strike at halftime of the Cal - Stanford game.

By the way - knowing you’re a X fan, check out Cal Football Tweets on Twitter. - hilarious.

I hope we are done talking about boycotting the Apple Cup

Uh, no. Tense. Fun. Interesting. But not best ever. ‘92 and ‘97 were better. ‘88 much better. ‘82 probably the best. But certainly no ‘24.
Here’s what I will say. That was maybe the most intense Apple Cup wire to wire in at least a decade. Last years game, while close, still just seemed kinda boring. Almost like we were never going to win Because UW had been getting bailed by the refs all year. And of course most of the last decade before that were blowouts.

The game this year just teetered on every play. It was a fitting ending.

If you're going alone and just need one ticket, I'd wait until the day of the game and get one on Stubhub. Doesn't help with your travel issue, but you'll get a much better seat for the same money (or conversely, a meh seat for half of you are planning to spend now).
