Remember the debates about Minshew vs Drafting QB at #1?

Here is an article discussing how the 2021 QB class has turned out. Interesting. No way to know how things would have turned out if Jaguars had kept Gardner and drafted OL, RB, WR talent to support him, but it does appear that they at least picked the right quarterback.

Summary article

Stumbled across this while looking for some kind of confirmation that OSU plans an announcement about its conference. (Didn't find that, just a statement that they really hope to release next year’s schedule this week)

Nice summary of what’s happened, and why it’s ruined CFB.

Just because those photos of the mutts holding have me so pissed off......

.....I am going to bitch about three things about WSU that has me pissed off at them.

1. Here it is three hours after learning about the WSU volleyball team getting to host in the NCAA tournament and the web site isn't updated yet with a story about it, giving dates and teams at least. They should have been prepared and had something ready to post within 15 minutes!

2. Here is the headline about the Apple Cup; "No. 4 Washington edges the season with 24-20 win over Washington State in Apple Cup". Seriously, edges? Did you even look at what you were posting?

3. At least I did already get an email saying that I can get volleyball tickets first thing tomorrow. oh, yeah! However, they neglected to put anything in the email about when, what time, where, and also importantly, who else will be there to play the Cougs!

Damn, I just get irritated when they do stupid stuff like that makes us question their competence.......

Can we talk actual logistics instead of conjecture?

What we know: we should have some sort of idea of the money situation in a couple of weeks. Or at least whether or not we'll get to dictate how it goes.

According to what Schulz said about the athletic budget going forward, we won't be able to afford CJD at his current salary.

OSU and WSU are content to become the Pac 2 for the next two years. Apparently this is going to consist of a scheduling alliance with the MWC plus an annual ass-fcking from UW (yea...).

What did I forget?

Check out the picture by Jennifer Buchanan. Sure looks like Stone is getting held to me as he closes in on Penix. I'm sure they will take it down

Brace for an Exodus ?

After Saturday’s Apple Cup loss against Washington, the Washington State Cougars face an uncertain future—and a wave of transfers—in the wake of the Pac-12’s collapse.

The Washington State Cougars are one of college football’s most remote major teams. They play in Pullman, Wash.—population a hair under 33,000—in a rural region of eastern Washington known as the Palouse.

“We don’t have any ‘whales’ who have come forward to support us,” said Tim Brandle, treasurer for Cougar Collective, the university’s donor organization that helps connect athletes with endorsement deals. “But we do have passionate Cougar fans all over the world.”

The university’s rural setting holds it back. “We don’t have a Lamborghini dealership in Pullman,” said Robbie Tobeck, an offensive lineman for Washington State in the early 90s and co-founder of Cougar Collective. But, Tobeck added, starting quarterback Cam Ward did get hooked up with a GMC truck from a local car dealership.

“We have done OK with less,” Tobeck said. “But you can’t do with less over and over and over again and expect to have a winning program.”

Cougar Connected Coaches News

From FootballScoop.com:
  • Jim Michalzik is heading to Michigan State with Smith
  • Trent Bray (dad Craig was Wazzu ass't coach) may be going along also, but rumored to be in running for the Beavers head coach job
  • Jeff Banks is in the running for head coach position at U of Houston, so maybe he will be a Cougar again

Sorry Biggs- no news yet on new WSU Cougar head coach. I'm sure you knew that.

Question of Strategery

With 4th down and a yard to go at their own 29 yard line, do you think DeBoer would have made a different decision about going for it if our kicker hadn't been struggling recently? I think he had missed 3 between Stanford and Cal, missed one already in the Apple Cup, not sure how he did vs colorado. I bet that was a big factor in his calculations.

A Reminder

Just finished reading the CDA Press, and the story of yesterday's Apple Cup. The story starts right off with talking about how the mutts just finished a perfect season for the second time in their history. Turns out the writer is incorrect- they actually had THREE perfect seasons! Under the wise guidance of Tyrone Comportment Willingham the mutts finished off a lovely perfect season, the only one in PAC 12 history, losing the Apple Cup to the Cougars, to post an 0-12 record. Perfect losers!!!

Never forget!
