Gameday

I don't usually watch Gameday at this point, and I tend not to get too worked up about remarks someone might make. I am up doing stuff early today and have had it on in the background while in the room here today, though. They were just doing a "superdog" segment, and as they ran through some picks, one of the guys -- think it was McAfee -- picked Stanford to take out Cal. McAfee said something about how Stanford got its ass kicked last week but could come back strong this week, and, in a seemingly genuinely positive sense, cited the example of how WSU got beaten badly last week but then "we saw what they did to Colorado last night" or something similar, with the implication that Stanford could come back strong today. Then one of the other jackasses sarcastically said something like "saved their season, haha" -- might have been Stanford Steve, but it was hard to tell -- and McAfee said "shhhh" and a few of them guffawed like they always do.

Do these guys think they're subtle, that their mics aren't on, or something? It's bizarre how some of them would go out of their way to give WSU shit like that, and they clearly still have some grudge against WSU, even if McAfee apparently is trying to be on better behavior. Not the biggest deal, but it's more of a "WTF?" thing. This show used to be great and now it's unwatchable. Not just because of the WSU/McAfee thing. More that it's devoid of real analysis and at this point largely consists of constant lame jokes with them all chuckling loudly in the mics for 5 seconds over and over.

Biggest individual stock W

Most recently it would have to be DraftKings. Cost basis of $11.50 and closing today at $38.37. As far as long term Tesla would have to be right up there with an adjusted split cost basis of around $20.
My main problem is purchasing somewhat speculative equities and riding them up then down usually below the strike price.
Novavax was one I got into early during the pandemic. Purchased around $18, watched it climb to $300, then got out around $80 Todays close was $5.73
If we go away from equities, real estate has treated me well also. Purchased first condo in 1990 for about $110,000 Bought and sold since. Now own 2 homes, with one having equity near 7 figures. Unfortunately, I think the days of these types of real estate returns are gone.
Not tooted my own horn at all. Strictly for discussion purposes.

OT: Harbaugh to Bears rumors beginning to pick up

In light of his 3 game suspension, and the other NCAA investigation still in progress, he pulls a "Pete Carroll" and leaves for the NFL.

Not going to win throwing it 60 times in a game

Especially with a mistake prone qb.

Hell, its hard win like that with a qb who doesn't make mistakes.

I mentioned this in the game thread, but we are behind the chains constantly
and in a game where we were running the ball effectively, there is no excuse

If need be, put Mateer in there if we are down to one running back and run
him to try and stay on schedule. If the defense creeps up, slip a TE down the seam.

But this game plan of throwing 50 plus times is a horrible game plan

And if I see any more 2 yard passes, I am going to start drinking during games again. Maybe that's the problem.

Anyways...just fng run the ball. It iss not worth the risk associated with a pass play to only throw for 2 yds....or yarrrrds as Beth Mowens likes to say.

Edit to post and case in point.

We had 2nd and 3(after a pass play) after the turnover created by Jackson. Then 2 straight pass plays resulting in an incompletion and a sack.

We had the ball on their 17 yd line after the turnover. 3 and out and had to kick a fg. If we score a td there, ball game.

What are your feelings about John Mateer?

With the speculation that Cam Ward may not return for 2024, what might that mean about the QB position for next fall?

So far in this his redshirt freshman season, Mateer has appeared in 9 of 10 games, completing 11 of 14 passes for 181 yards with 2 TDs and 1 INT. He's also rushed for 81 yards and 3 TDs. Limited data, but the numbers look promising.

Mateer is a former Top 250 recruit in football-crazy Texas, so he's got the pedigree.

CJD and Arbuckle already have a HS commitment from a Canadian kid playing for a powerhouse program in Florida.

Will they try to bring in an experienced QB from the transfer portal or is it safe to say Mateer definitely will be QB1 entering 2024 fall camp?

I continue to be perplexed at how we continue to be betting favorites for the past several...

...weeks given how we continue to lose (and lose bigly many times)...and don't seem to be able to come close to putting a complete game together.

Who would give Colorado 4.5 points, let alone any points, to bet on Wazzu?

Explain that...anyone?

Perplexed favorites,
losing streak,
incomplete game,
four points on Wazzu?

I think for the first time ever

I think for the first time I can remember, I just chose not to watch. I’ve missed games before but this was the first time I just chose not to watch. Wasn’t busy. Didn’t honestly do much of anything. I just didn’t want to watch them.

This season has taken it out of me. The transfers, the realignment, the team. I’m just kind of out at this point. It just doesn’t feel fun anymore.
