Mainstream media coverage usually skims the surface...

so I will not be surprised if some key facts are not included. For example, JC linebacker Aaron Porter originally was a 4-star recruit who signed with UCLA. He had eight Pac-12 offers, plus Boise State and others, coming out of high school. Current Cougar RB coach Jim Mastro recruited Porter when Mastro was at Nevada. Today, Mastro said Nevada never had a shot at Porter, but many major programs wanted him.
Sebastian Larue, while not in this class, hardly drew attention when he transferred from Texas A&M, but he was a 4-star recruit out of high school with more than two dozen offers from major programs.

The "men of their word" argument

In Gesser's and Brink's interview with AC Jim Mastro, much was said about commits keeping their word, particularly Thomas Toki and James Williams, that a handshake means something. "For some of these kids it's just a game, because of social media...," Mastro said of prospects wanting the attention to keep coming.
I agree it's great Toki and Williams stayed with their commitments, but let's not be hypocritical. We're more than happy that Taeon Mason switched to us (I'm assuming USC didn't withdraw the offer, and I'm assuming he actually signs with WSU).

UPDATE: Sihiem King picks UK...

Moultrie (Ga.) Colquitt County RB Sihiem King pulled a surprise on Tuesday night and committed to Kentucky, according to Rivals.com analyst Justin Rowland. The obvious connection between King and Kentucky is the Wildcats' new offensive coordinator, Shannon Dawson, who was his primary recruiter at West Virginia.

Washington State looked like a long shot to land King shortly after the visit due to distance concerns. He'll get to remain close to home and play in the SEC now. The kid is going to be a good one.

The Hat Game

Once again ,the cougs are in a game they never win. Two recruiting prospects,George Wilson WR,and Muffi Hunt ,DE ,will play the game this Wednesday.Do the cougs finally win one ? Muffi Hunt is LDS and probably will take his Mission right after his senior year in HS. George Wilson will be in the 2015 prospects. what say Ye?

CJ Dimry Commits

Per my scope.CJ Dimry offerred and committed Monday night LOL. This guy has the physical tools. he is 6'6 20 and runs a 4.5 40, He is a football player and he is physical and does block for his fellow receivers. Needless to say he is tough to cover especially if the ball is thrown at a high trajectory. He is a good pickup. Lets see how well he transitions to PAC 12 football. It will be interesting and fun to watch him

UPDATE: Some notes on kicker targets...

Petaluma (Calif.) Casa Grande kicker Matthew Abramo is expected to sign a NLI with Washington State tomorrow, but the Cougars are expected to bring in a preferred walk-on kicker this fall, too.

New Jersey kicker Jarry Jones was previously expected to wind up at Washington State, and recently took an unofficial visit, however I'm told Jones will now end up at Old Dominion.

That opens the door for Snohomish (Wash.) Glacier Peak kicker Spencer Pettit, who officially visited over the weekend, will be making his college decision between Washington State and Nevada, whom he visited two weekends ago. Pettit says he'll make a decision soon.

UPDATE: More on Simmons-OU...

As I reported yesterday, a source close to the Oklahoma program told me Oklahoma has already hired their new receivers coach and the buzz around campus is that Washington State's Dennis Simmons has accepted that position.

I spoke to a source today who says Washington State coaches were in Moore, Okla., last Friday to meet with recent de-commit Dahu Green, who committed to Oklahoma yesterday, and that Dennis Simmons was not among the WSU coaches to meet with Green. After de-committing from Washington State, Green didn't mention Simmons' name when reporters asked about the rumors, which would indicate that he's been told to keep things quiet until after signing day.

Furthermore, new Washington State receiver commit Christopher "C.J." Dimry says he did not meet Simmons during his official visit last weekend, instead spending the majority of his time with David Yost.

It sounds more and more like this is a done deal.
