Mike Leach on the fate of the human race

from ESPN top 10 quotes of the year:

Mike Leach wants you to stop reading this on your phone
"I'm not really good with technology. All this button pushing and whatnot. I mean, you can just imagine based on what's happened in the last 15 years. Conversations won't happen 10 years from now. There aren't going to be people to talk to, it's going to be this [mimics pushing buttons]. 'Do you want to go out on a date with me?' 'I don't know, what do you look like?' 'Well I look kind of like this.' 'OK, what are your interests?' 'Well, what do you think my interests are? Looking to this thing and typing into this just like yours are.' 'Yeah, no kidding, that's what everybody's doing.' 'Well, where do you want to go?' 'Well, what difference does it make? Because all we're going to be doing is looking into machines anyways.' Well, that's true and in the end, it's going to be tough to perpetuate the species. There's no question about that. So we're all going to look in this box and eventually be extinct. That's how it ends." -- Mike Leach on the fate of the human race

just for fun

Lavan Alston WR

This 4 star 6'0 172 WR will visit the cougs on 1/16.. He runs a 4.3 40 ,is quick, has great hands and runs precise routes. There is a good chance to land this guy, He has only visited Cal and OSU.This is the type of WR .Leach needs to start winning a lot of ballgames. Leach may want to greyshirt a couple of the recent recruits.

Another move

BX is reporting that Tania Pritchard is the latest to leave Cougar football. His departure follows Monroe's, Caldwell's, and Griffin's. As with Monroe, he's apparently graduated, so he can transfer anywhere he wishes without sitting out. His departure would free up yet another schollie.

Walk-on offer out to NJ kicker...

Washington State has extended a preferred walk-on offer out to Stanhope (N.J.) Lenape Valley kicker Jarry Jones, according to his Twitter account. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound place kicker was also offered a preferred walk-on spot at Cincinnati.

According to the man, the myth the legend, Braulio Perez, of NJ.com, Jones converted 29-of-30 PAT attempts and 10-of-14 of his field goal tries, with a long of 39. Jones sent 34-of-53 kickoffs into the end zone for touchbacks.

Sheesh: no game comments?

I know expectations aren't great, but the basketball men did play a game and won it without too many problems. Thought that alone might be worthy of at least one or two comments. I actually saw continued improvement with the guard play, Brett Boese, and surprisingly, to me, Railey. Of course, San Jose had no one to counter Railey with, but he did show some fluidity underneath with the ball in his hands and also a soft touch on his foul shots. Still don't like the way this team defends and I think the won-loss in league play will not be good, but there are signs a competitive team is emerging from this group. Gratifyingly, the announcers both conjectured that the play of Hawkinson, which was once again excellent, should transfer into the league season. In other words, his play up until now has not been a fluke.

Transfer Josh Martin

Don't know if there is much interest either direction but he seems to fit the type of player Ernie Kent wants. He is leaving Minnesota now so if he enrolled at x-mas break I believe he would be able to play x-mas of next year.

For those that don't know he is from Washington State, played high school ball at Bothell and averaged over 25 points a game. He was a 3 to 4 star recruit with plenty of high major offers including UW who most thought would get him. WSU showed early interest but was shut down maybe Kent could be a little more enticing especially if the kid's bubble burst a tad.

Why lock these threads?

I don't mean to be a pest, but why keep locking the longest threads on the board? I understand they're about Wulff, a topic some feel tiresome, but they're also the most active threads on the board. Clearly, it's what people want to talk about.

I find it interesting to look through old classes, and discuss recruiting in general, and as long as they don't devolve into primarily personal attacks, don't see the need to lock them.
