1.4MM NIL deal

https://sports.yahoo.com/reports-ohio-state-freshman-quinn-ewers-signs-14-m-nil-deal-190747304.html

now we're talking some big time fakers.

I'm ready to admit that the innocence has officially been lost.
Oh yea. College football, as we knew it, is over. The NIL deals combined with the transfer portal has erased any semblance of innocence. When mid-major programs like WSU do find diamonds in the rough on the recruiting trail, they’ll get lured away.

Game over.

another potential can of worms is being opened by this NIL thing.

locker room jealousy and division, loss of work ethic for the now wealthy players etc... these guys are still going to perform in the classroom, I guess. Or is that going to be the next thing to be changed

well, the local school districts have already made it so that HS Seniors will not have the standard graduation requirements for the next 3 years, because Covid was just sooooooooo tough on them (heaven forbid everyone [teachers...] double their efforts and get caught up), so I imagine the option to actually attend class and/ or pass classes will be coming soon. It'll be interesting how these busines.... errrrr, institutions of higher learning rationalize having sports mercenaries on campus.

Gone are the days of Bill Doba when a handshake and a verbal meant something to him. It is the NFL's free minor league system.

When the rich NFL put together their own developmental league maybe then college football will have some sort of student athlete. But those days are in the rear view mirror.

The starting QB for the KSU Wildcats did a TV commercial for a local Ford dealer. No idea what he got paid, but it's obviously going to be tough for WSU to compete in the new world that's coming.

I get it and subscribe to your thoughts on this. I’m not encouraged about where college football is headed one bit.

I do think our footprint is bigger, though. If this were in place during the 70s, I’d have a hard time thinking that Jack Thompson doesn’t get the same from some Ford dealer in Seattle. But… then again, maybe he never even ends up on our campus.

What does “Palouse Producers” pay?

And WSU enticed almost the entire EWU staff to break their written contracts with EWU in order to replace Doba.
