They'll be lucky to get an NIT invite. Might... MIGHT be a CBI team.Win or lose, Cougs are an NIT 3 seed.
I said this on another thread, but I have been disappointed in the offensive and defensive game plans. Not good
I’m not a big basketball guy so everything comes back to football for me. Watching these stretches where they make no attempt to work the paint and then jack up and brick 3 after 3 reminds me of watching air raid against 8 in coverage and refusing to attempt a run. Seems if they actually made some effort to score inside they’d get some better looks from the outside, no?Agree. Seems to play school yard gun and run ball. Doesn’t seem at all scripted just run and gun and have fun.
honestly the only difference from Ernie is Smith is actually trying to recruit and we have better players. Defense is better but on offense looks similar to Ernie.
They shoot way too many 3s for my taste, but they missed a boatload of easy shots last night. I lost track of how many shots around the bucket did not go in....a couple of simple layups, etc...Cougs were 8-26 from inside the arc. I'm not sure they are capable of consistently hitting their shots, even if they are fairly high percentage shots.I’m not a big basketball guy so everything comes back to football for me. Frustrating because their bigs have offensive skills and the guards can create off the dribble. How they are not getting some easy buckets in the paint with that is a damn mystery to me.
This. They just seem to miss a lot. Even open looks. They shoot way too many 3s for my taste, but they missed a boatload of easy shots last night. Glad Cougar
Yeah, it's kinda unfortunate that they only count the IThis. They just seem to miss a lot. Even open looks.
Maybe I didn't pay attention closely enough, but I honestly thought the ball movement was not all that bad for much of the game. They....just....couldn't....hit....a.....damn......thing. As I wrote elsewhere, 8-26 from inside the arc indicates it wasn't just a lot of standing around and then casting off. Sure, there were stretches of that kind of NBA type play where a guy goes one-on-one, but I really thought it was more of a simple case of horrendous shooting. At least, that's what my burning eyes saw.Let me guess - high ball screen. Three guys stand around.
Any semblance of off ball movement?
I get it. It was a very maddenesque take but really how can we not have a knock down shooter. So may teams have guys who can do this. The team shooting percentage is just plain bad most of the time.Yeah, it's kinda unfortunate that they only count the I
ones that go in...
I wasn't flaming, I was being serious. Like I said in about the Zona game, the Cats defense deserves some credit but these guys are just poor shooters at times. Like, a lot of times. More often than not. Their only saving grace is that they then catch fire and either make it close or win against lesser opponents.I get it.
