This has been the toughest, most stressful year of my life. Yet even within challenging years there are silver linings. I'll start and you guys can add.

- More people walking, hiking, biking and involved in exercise of all kinds.
- More pet rescues & adoptions than ever, and probably in many cases some better relationships with pets.
- People who would sit elbow to elbow at an event and never look up from their cell phone are now craving contact by Zoom. The irony is sweet, but perhaps the priorities will stick...at least a little.
- Separation from family and friends can cause us to treasure and wish to put more effort into those relationships. I hope it works out that way for the long term.
- I am a Coug. Even with all the political and other disagreements, that remains constant.

Of course that is only a partial list, and leans toward the ecumenical. But hey, it's a start!

I am most thankful for the extra time with my immediate family. We have a 2, 6 and 8 year old and the amount of time the 2 year old has been able to spend with them over the past 8 months has been awesome. This has also slowed our family way down, allowing us to appreciate down time...stripping away extra curricular activities was a bummer at first, now we don't even think about them. We will think long and hard before we add more, as the slow down of the rat race has been enlightening.

Ahhhh 2020.... I'm thankful that my dream of my daughter becoming a Coug came true. Thankful my 87 year old mother is still with us and planning her next vacation somewhere overseas (her Christmas card last year was a picture of her on a camel with a pyramid in the background). I'm thankful my older brother is still fighting off the cancer that has ripped through his body and gets to enjoy one more Christmas. I'm thankful I have a job after being laid off all summer. Last but not least I'm thankful this frickin year is almost over...

Community property laws. Thankful for community property laws in 2020.

Otherwise, odds on my wife would have left me during quarantine.

Either that or buried me in the woods.

So, yeah, community property laws.

Burying you in the woods and the community property laws will result in everything going to her. Unless she gets caught.

Stay vigilant.

I'm thankful that despite the crazy year, my company has done well and work continues to come in the door. I'm grateful that my sister who got laid off at the beginning of the pandemic was able to find a new job that pays better and has better benefits. I'm grateful that my son was able to get married and it didn't turn into a superspreader event. I'm grateful that both he and my daughter are on track to graduate in May (one from college and one from high school). I'm thankful that at least we got to watch a couple games.

Introverts

Introvert wins: social distancing = less folks in my bubble/less neck breathers in lines, less recognition due to masks, best excuse to not go out, less guests

Would still rather have things back to normal.
