2021-22 Position Battle - Three Spot

I see Gueye having a limited role this year especially at the start and primarily see him as a 4 this year. Imo Rodman starts at the 3 backed up by Aiken and Bamba.

Rodman, Kim PLATOON, start, 6th men, #1 Back ups, etc, at 3 spot from start, beginning of season til mid season.

Gueye #1 back up at 4,5 spots behind Dischon at the 5, Efe at 4 spot, and by mid to end of season might even might probably occasionally, semi limited, situational start at 3 spot to help get him minutes, if Dischon, Efe are getting a lot of minutes.

Noah could be like a Marcus Capers and slide over to start at 3 spot IF IF IF, Koulibaly is good enough, but does not beat out a equally good enough Flowers, and if Kim/DJ dont take off at the 3 spot.

Otherwise its:

Starter: DJ/Kim

#1 back up: Bamba or Gueye.

#2 Back up: Bamba or Gueye.

Bamba can also be #2 back up at 2 spot behind Noah Koulibaly.

#3 back up, Rosario.

#4 Back up: Rapp.

I have to agree with Observer about Gueye.

I think the truth is somewhere between Observer and Jourdand.

I dont think Gueye starts a lot, but I do think Gueye once in a super great while, semi limited, situational starts at 3 spot by mid to end of season.

I think Gueye is #1 Back up at both of the 5,4 spots

I get why Jourdand thinks that Gueye is at least Semi Raw to RAW, and thus have limited role.

I would agree with that if both Vova, and Jakimovski hadnt had ledt, and had either Rosario or Rapp transfered instead.

But since 2 BIGS transfered, that only leaves Dischon at the 5, Efe at the 4, a BIG BIG(Gueye(6-11(7-5 Wingspan), to back them up. While there is Miller who at 6-5.5 is like a Chris Ivory, Varem, who can play 4, and Kim who can play 4, there is no BIG BIG( 6-10+) that can back up the 5 in place of Gueye.

Yes there is the 6-9 BANGER WALK ON. But he is not better then Gueye.

If Vova, Jakimovski were still here and if they were to take off, and if Gueye then didnt develop as fast, THEN would be able to put Gueye into a more limited role, give less back up minutes.

But with Vova, Jakimovski gone, Gueye needs to back up at 5, 4 spots and occasionally either back up, start, play at the 3 spot to develop him, provide depth, etc

Also like I and others have said before, and has been linked, proven here, you dont end up tied as the highest rated recruit in all of WSU history, with Stuart House, and be a 4 star recruit, be about a top 35 to top 50 rated recruit, be rated higher then Marjon Champ(either a 1 and done, an or will go straight into NBA draft from out of Highschool). Gueye is also projected as a NBA Lottery pick by NBADraftRoom.com.

A player like that, like Gueye does not have ONLY a LIMITED ROLE.

It would be like if Jourdand had been on a message board back when Stuart House was recruited, and had said that Stuart House would only have a Limited Role.

Gueye may not reach his on paper potential, upside, etc. He may not develop, etc(dont think thats likely but its still possible).

But even if Gueye were not to pan out, we as fans, and probably the coaching staff have to and probably will at least try to give Gueye a expanded role to help provide depth at 5,4 spots, to help develop, etc.

If he isn’t on campus what sources? Played pretty limited minutes with limited success in high school / AAU. There has got to be more to his story, that we don’t know. You just don’t usually see such hype about players with such low stats, and unfortunately, when you do they usually flop. Holding out high hopes for him but trying to stay a little grounded because of such lofty expectations. I would be happy with a nice reserve/ situational starter that shows potential for him as a freshmen.

A source on campus.

There is more to the story. Others, not me, even posted links to the info on this board. Me, others saw, read those links. And no I dont have the links, because zi didnt think that you would either not see, read those links, and that I would be expected to provide those links.

Somebody else can repost that info, links if they wanted to.

The reasons why his stats werent as good, why he didnt get as much playing time, in both HS/AAU, is:

1. He had a BAD INJURY, that tho he recovered well enough to play, atopped him from beating out the starters

2. Those that started in front of him:

A. A 5 star a Top 10 recruit in Nation that went to Oregon.

B. Another 4,5, 4.5 star recruit that was about a Top 20 recruit that went to another college.

3. Altho he has NBA Freakish Athleticism, he was RAW. Those that started ahead of him had less rawness, were nore developed, etc, then him.

4. He was a team player. He could have fought for more minutes, starting time, and might probably have gotten it, but he didnt want to reinjure himself pushing to beat out the starters, playing more minutes then his body could handle post injury, but during his recovery. And hecwas a team player, respectful of the coaches not starting him, etc.

5. Even the backs ups like him were 4,5 stars that were high rated recruits.

6. The rosters he played on were about some of the most about STACKED rosters about in HS, AAU history.

I thought Gueye wasn’t on campus yet?

No according to what some of the posters here posted, say, said, and cant remember if they backed up what they said with linked sources.

But according to them Gueye has been on campus.

Also if I remember right, I think there is a linked Theo story.that has been posted on the board with pictures, about Gueye, others practicing on campus.

According to brand x and I personally don’t know for sure but Gueye is not on campus and won’t be till later this summer. An injury would explain a lot I haven’t read anything about an injury. I’ve read lots of article hyping him up and talking about his unlimited potential so hopefully there is something there. His clips look good but nobody ever misses in those things lol!

The injury was not now or recently, but instead BACK THEN.

The injuries werent the only reason.

The teams he played on were STACKED FULL OF 4.5 STARS AND 5 STARS, TOP 25 RECRUITS, that were starting ahead of his RAW, undeveloped, NBA Freakish Athleticism, INJURED, self.

As awesome as it is WSU getting a 4.5 star, projected FUTURE Lottery pick, Top 37 recruit, etc, Oregon, others 1 up WSU again, get a 5 star that was good enough to beat out a projected Lottery pick in Gueye for the starting job.

Oregon is going to be scary good. They are putting together a NCAA final 2 team.

Very nice interview with Gueye no mention of any injury but he appears to have a very good outlook on life.

The injury I heard about was during the season but he came back later from whatever it was (ankle I believe).
