Elleby picks up a quick 2 and sits before I could even get the game.

Can’t expect Cannin to score in the 2nd half like he did in the first. Need Elleby and Franks to start scoring.
...and still up 9 with only 4 shots from the 2. Elleby only ends up with 6 minutes. Cannon picked a great time to find his shot again.
Some categories we lead: 19-10 rebounding and 12-0 fast break points.
We struggled with their zone at times. Need to attack it better. Also, UW is better than the Arizona’s but defensive energy wasn’t quite as good.

Franks with a deep bomb to put us ahead again. Dickerson on the offensive boards and Nowell’s drives got them back in the game.
Kent getting out coached + dumb turn overs + refs calling a different game in the 2nd half = down by three and probably not gonna come back.

Skaggs hasn’t seen the floor since Kunc’s minutes went up and Cannon got over whatever was keeping him out for a game or two.

Down 4 out of a timeout and all you get is a jacked up 3. Awful.
Math is obviously not ernies strong suit either.
We couldn’t figure out how to attack Hopkins zone. The final Franks turnover was the final nail in the coffin. I don’t know what the officials were seeing at times. Crisp clearly pushed off Ali and they call a foul on Ali. Thought Nowell picked up his 4th early but they called the foul on Franks. Some of the baseline possessions calls looked like they were off UW but went back to them. Regardless, we let this one slip away because of turnovers and rebounding.
Refs were garbage. That’s basketball though. Franks turnover was the turning point. We get a decent possession there we likely win.

A very tough loss and Ellerby was trying to do too much. He will benefit in the long run from this game. The game was a good game and the cougs came back when they could have folded. Yes Skaggs did not see the floor which is a very good thing. They can use his scholarship for a frosh PG next year , Cockrell? He will not see action the rest of the season much less any next year. He needs to transfer to a D 11 program where he can play. The cougs need to come back strong against Colorado.
Nice to see a bit of a crowd, too bad they couldn't hang on and finish. Lots of bright spots but boy to we need a power rebounder and a post defender. A little hard to believe that there wasn't a bit better preparation to get Franks in some inside type scoring. Or a bit more on the 3 line as oppossed to handling the ball at nearly the half court.

Coming off two good wins and then this game my optimism for a solid stretch run is growing. As far as Skaggs goes his playing time has disappeared and rightfully so, He has been beat out by better players. I saw where he got an academic award so it wouldnt shock me to see him possibly go the grad transfer route. But if he thinks the team might make some noise next year I could also see him wanting to go along for the ride. He doesn’t seem to be sulking on the bench he is almost always the first guy on the floor high five in players during time outs and is one of the more energetic players cheering on the bench.
