I know some of you may have a different opinion but why do they play football. You play a season for a bowl and then you finally get one so you can sit out because you don’t want to get hurt. To me that’s some selfish BS to let your teammates down.

yeah, I thought we'd only see that from other programs full of prima Donna's, but I've forgotten that all these kids raised in the participation trophy era think they are better than their teammates and above the concept of "team".

I mean, fck it. why suit up at all? Just hang out and wait for the scouts to notice how awesome you are, and if they don't see how bright you shine then that's on them and the system is obviously rigged, right?

Both teams in some turmoil.
Cougs will find out what their O-line will be looking like next year. It might be more like spring ball than a Bowl game for the offense.

yet fans are supposed to shell out significant time and money to go support this.

Ugh, I'm so over the drama.

Over/under on the number of times Rolo and the mandate is brought up during the game? I'm thinking 4 sounds about right.

It's becoming a thing now where players who think they are getting drafted pretty high are sitting out bowl games to avoid injury.

This doesn't bother me for bowl games below the NY6 and playoff games. I look at this as an extension of Spring camp. Outside of the programs participating in the games, nobody remembers who wins or loses them.

We're on to 2022.

What drama … Rolo is gone and Dickert is our coach . The only drama I saw was JDL plant the flag on the W at the Apple Cup. If we had been more competitive the last 7 years and if the game was played in 2020 maybe I would have wished he didn’t do it .

As for Ryan maybe he wanted to go out with a win against UW as his last game he has played . Abe…. Maybe cost himself a little money . Two things plus the rumor affect him . One, coming out of the Air Raid. That will hurt his draft status . Second , Dillard, Dahl and Cole struggle (especially Dillard who they spent a first round draft pick) are examples that it is a tough transition . Third, if he is protesting because he thought a coach was wronged, then he is in for a tough go at the NFL as they will fire a coach for not being vaxed as well . And there are coaches who get wronged all the time .

I thought this was supposed to be about the experience for players and fans alike? I get you'd like to stay healthy for a shot at the NFL (if you're on the radar) but this is what you play for and to do this to your teammates is pretty bush league at best.

I'm not saying I agree with their decision to skip the game. I wouldn't, nor would I advise my sons to do it. I agree, I think it's silly. On the other hand, I don't personally care about it either. If we have to open up the roster to the next generation, so be it.

Do the kids who opt out still get to attend the game with their teammates? If so, I wish the NCAA would step in and say no to that. If you opt out, you've effectively submitted your resignation effective immediately.

I hope they reconsider. I mean look at the Oregon game. Mario Thibideaux(sp?) was all up in our backfield all game and the league is full of nothing but Mario's. Knowing this, I wish those guys luck!

I may understand Borghi skipping the game. But Abe not seeing it. But I don't get why Beresford is transferring either. But then again it isn't important to get it. We have 3/5's of the line that started against UW. We get to see if they have recruited any players worth their salt to play oline.

Fifita and Gomness played significant minutes this year. I’ve seen Greene taking snaps so not sure if he’s injured come 12/31.
If Lucas and Ryan bail, let’s see what next years OT look like.

Thats the only place I'm seeing it. And it doesn't pass the smell test. Why would Abe and Liam sit out a bowl game? It's not going to help their NFL stock and might hurt it.
You and I think that, but these kids think it's a lose-lose. Maybe DICKerson is their agent.

Plus, this team seems pretty tight. After everything they've been through together, I see the odds of guys bailing to protect their draft status as pretty low.

There is a Twitter handle called "WazzuInsider" or something like that that is going around saying the entire offensive team is transferring, JDL is transferring and I guess said that 4/5 linemen are sitting out.

If Ryan is sitting because he wanted to go out on an AC win, then that's bull$hit.

And Lucas had a season and a half in the R&S. If he's concerned about the Air Raid hurting his draft stock, then maybe he get another game on film of him doing something else.

I'm sorry, I just don't feel sorry for these guys who committed to play for Mike Goddamn Leach, then are irritated about how the Air Raid showcases their talents.

Tempest in a teapot. Probably not fully accurate, though there may be a nugget or two of truth somewhere. Anybody with a pulse understands that Rolo & those who abandoned the team chose to fire themselves, so no real wrongs were done to those who fired themselves....only to the rest of the team were wrongs done.

As for the bowl, this is an outstanding opportunity to get further development from those who will be Cougs next year, as well as a great send off for those who remain loyal Cougs for their last game. In some ways, a fitting end to a wacky season. I'm looking forward to next season.

I'm not finding any account under that name. Wonder if it was just a troll.

It's not the AR that is hurting draft status, it is technique and footwork, which is a coaching issue, it was/is a problem for Dillard, been well documented, and yet people are excited about a returning OL coach that's responsible for it.

As to these guys not playing, I don't get it if it's inquires, you can get injured in the weight room, if you start not doing things you normally do for fear injury, the injury you're worried about will find you.

I have no problem with a guy who’s a high first round projection doing it if it’s not a “meaningful” bowl (Thibedaux for example). As for guys who are hoping to get drafted or are day 2 picks at best…this is a bad strategy. NFL GMs want guys who want to play football. Abe and Liam aren’t helping their draft situation by sitting this game out and there’s nobody on the team who’s in that category.

Incorrect....they show how many runs on tape? How many plays do you see them knocking a defender off the ball? They show a formation (wide splits) that protects a weakness in where it pushes the DE further away from the qb.

Show me a vast array of air raid lineman just not at WSU that have shown well in the NFL? The Big Continent was an "All American" and he couldn't perform in a three cone drill. This offense is about standing in front of people. That is why Ryan was much more successful on the inside vs the edge.

I mean, outside of the teams that played in the game, does anyone know who won the WSU, Arizona game this year? I guess I don't understand the logic that a bowl game is any less of a game than any other.

You're right. Without question, they all matter. Especially bowl games. What I meant to convey is that I look at these games (personally) as more of a celebration of the past season and a look ahead to next year.

When we lost to Michigan State and Minnesota, it didn't bug me the way mid-season losses do. I guess that's my point here.

Massive names? If so don’t let the door hit you I would say to them. True fans, supporters, past athletes, donor’s and Alumni continue to be real Cougs over the BS every year. I’m still here and I’m still support and send my contribution. I support my school in anyway I can when anytime possible. During the Wulff years it was embarrassing for every week beat down but I still flew the flag and wore my colors every game day with pride.

Maybe these tweets have some truth to them, but I question the credibility simply based on the guy's inability to use proper grammar and spelling:

Wsu will be without 4 of its 8 captions vs Miami in the sun bowl this is not looking to hot.

Another big dominion falls, best of luck to this young man he’s been great all season. Also make me wonder what’s going on at wsu.

Hate to lose those captions. Without them, I never really know who is in the photos. Also hate to lose another big dominion. WSU doesn't have enough sovereignty over the college football world.

Glad Cougar

Sounds legit....

I'll be shocked if Max plays.

Rumor has it that Abe and Liam are sitting out in protest of Rolo getting canned. I hope anyone who feels that way transfers immediately. We need to rid the program of anyone still harboring resentment about that.

I hope that rumor is false. It's really dumb and lame to play the last six weeks and suddenly develop a conscience after the regular season is done. I agree with the comment that any player who skips the game should be told to stay home and leave the swag to the guys who want to be part of the program full time.
