ACC currently working with Stanford and Cal....

Read the CBS sports article, OR State and WSU mean nothing to the ACC ! Cougars are wanted by nobody essentially, at this time. Cal and Stanford should have worked with OR state and WA state to keep the PAC 4 alive.

Looking more and more like keeping the PAC 4 alive is not gonna happen ! Our KS is looking more and more like dead weight and should be punished for this circus !

$200M and our inevitable status as Big Dog in the Mountain West? Starting to think this is the best case scenario...

People should know when they are conquered.
I would have let the PAC die and cashed out when it was a 4 way split. If Stanford and Cal leave and give us a 2 way split with OSU…I’ll help them pack.

Not going to happen though. No way cal and Stanford go ACC. Logistics are just too much.

Inclusion in the MWC is NOT for WSU to simply dictate !

The best outcome looks like for the ACC to not take Stanford and Cal, OR both schools decide they don't want inclusion. Then, the PAC 4 can find 2 schools to join and make it a NCAA conference. That is, IF Stanford and Cal also decide that they don't want to be INDY !

Oh, and the Apple cup is still going to be E WA vs WSU !

I’ll take my aluminum baseball bat and 9 iron over it too

I think I would rather have the 400million payout to split with Oregon State and go from there.
WSU isn't getting $400 Million. Nowhere close to that.

I don't really know what the number will be but there's not a chance in hell they are getting the 23/24 payouts for the 8 schools leaving.

Would be fairly surprised if its more than $60 Million, at best.

I’d guess it will coincidently end up being very close to our debt. We’ll smile and take it and do a complete reset of our AD.

Hope you're wrong, 0-11

But unfortunately, that doesn't seem to happen much

I didn't read Canzano's article closely, but I don't think it included 23/24 payouts. I think the $400 million estimates was the reserve fund plus assets and cash that the members don't have individual claims to. Assuming the conference articles of incorporation (or equivalent) have language that says exiting members forfeit rights to reserves, and remaining members at the time of the conference dissolution divide what's left...it should be pretty airtight.
Of course, there will be claims and suits and other BS that reduce the number. But if Stanford and Cal leave for the ACC or Big 10 and OSU lands itself in the Big 12, leaving WSU as the only Pac-12 member at the end...I'd be fine with taking $400M and walking away. That's not what's going to happen...but as long as our check covers the remaining debt ($80-ish million, I think), it makes it easier to absorb a decreased revenue stream.

Honestly, assuming the remainder does cover our debt, the dissolution of the Pac-12 and division of the remainder might be the best thing for WSU. The debt is a lot bigger issue if we're only bringing in $7-10M on a media deal. That will lead to some deep cuts, probably even a reduction in programs. If we can get a payout that serves the debt, that's probably avoided for at least several years.

95, do you know if that $400M accounts for the Larry Scott/Comcast fiasco — or is the Pac-12 still in arrears on that deal?

Also, George Klaitkoff apparently has three years and $10M left on his contract. Does he get the whole enchilada even if the conference is shuttered at some point?

I think the overpayments are considered the responsibility of the member schools, not the conference. That makes sense, since that's where the money ended up.

Don't know about Kliatkoff's contract. Typically when a business goes under, people stop getting paid. Of course, that often doesn't apply to CEOs, they usually get a big payout for driving it into the ground.

Even if we have to pay his full contract, there's still near $400M to divide 4 ways. It pays the bills.

Thanks for the clarifications
