Three more offers the last couple of days.

2019 Fardaws Aimaq - 6'11" 245 C Mercer transfer

High School:
2020 Nick Blake - 6'6" 190 G

2022 Randi Ovalle - 6'7" from the DR

They are losing big time. It is almost laughable trying to recruit solid transfers with almost a zero chance of winning. The only reasonable chance is with Aimaq who despite his poor stats shows some promise. Smith is burning up recruiting dollars in a desperate id to save this recruiting season.

Staff hard at work in the transition, quite an improvement over the first class of Ernie and they haven't signed anyone yet that we know about

Of course the bar is set pretty low in order to be an improvement on Ernie's first class. I'm guessing we'll see better players than Cheatum, Dunbar, Davis and Redding. Three of those guys never played a minute of D1 basketball after one year at WSU and Redding was a walk-on at Wyoming.

Redding was the only guy from that first class that lasted more than a year and I think he was gone before season two was over. Kent got a late start but so has Smith. The new coach and staff are not only putting out the offers, Smith is taking the time to do a lot of media interviews and capitalizing on opportunities to get WSU's name out there. We'll see who signs in the next few weeks but I really expect years 2 and 3 and beyond to be better once the new Cougar basketball brand is established. Time will tell.

Glad Cougar

I have said one and i will say it again.Dunbar and Redding will be the cougs PG's this season. Somehow a few posters think that Kent can play the same players and have different results. Experience counts only if they are good experiences and one is capable of better play. If one does not have the ability to improve upon one's performance. and learn from them, then the experiences make one lose confidence... Getting one s ass continually kicked by better talent is not a good experience.
more wisdom from the past. Isn’t the internet great you can’t run a nd hide from your past

No question whoever they sign will be better than the first class EK and staff had here that first year. we could sign no one and it would still be better. lol Everyone speaks of having offers out to younger players. The new staff that was put in place during year 4 of Ernie Kent era was playing catch up, so they didn't have the luxury to recruit younger places cause they were trying to fill holes from the non recruiting of previous staff. I just feel like the new staff didn't get the credit they deserved cause as pointed out before WSU was on very talented players and had some on campus. Thought this upcoming class would have been the best class yet for EK and company.

To be fair, and Let's be fair, while Kent is horribly bad, and had to go, and while Kent's first class was horribly bad, that's in HINDSIGHT.

I had been following Dunbar, long before WSU got involved.

Ever since Dunbar's 8th, 9th grade year, PROMINENT hoops coverage, facebook, twitter, you tube, websites, etc, in a hoops dream(Remember the Hoops Dream movie about 2 inner city highschool b ball players), like type thing, projected Dunbar, to be a 4 or 5 star. They created a team called TEAM SHIFTY, with Dunbar, and his friend, others that went to KENTUCKY.

Team SHIFTY DESTROYED the california competition.

Dunbar was one of the better, almost best california Metro players. He had numerous awards, accolades. He had GREAT STATS.

One of the reasons Dunbar was called SHIFTY, and on Team SHIFTY, was good luck stopping Dunbar from beating defenders and driving, getting to basket.

Dunbar was a good ball handler, passer, driver.

The only knock on him was his lack of 3 point shooting, altho he could shoot ok from freethrow line, mid range jumper.

Dunbar's Dad was a coach. And Dunbar was high character, high basketball IQ, hard basketball worker.

He Dunbar spent hours, days, weeks, months, years, practicing, eating, drinking, sleeping basketball.

He Dunbar, was mentored by top, best college basketball players.

Also Dunbar and his friend that went to Kentucky DOMINATED AAU California ball, and highschool.

Initially Dunbar was projected as a probable 4, 5 star, and had a lot of early interest from Kentucky, North Carolina, Kansas, etc.

Then SHOCKINGLY they backed off. Then Shockingly Dunbar was named as a highest end 2 star to high end 3 star, instead of a 4 or 5 star as projected, expected by almost everyone.

Then Shockingly WSU got him, when almost everyone thought that no way would Dunbar goto WSU over a top college.

And then most shockingly of all HE DIDNT PAN, WORK OUT.

I dont think that is on Kent, unless Kent failed to coach him, Dunbar up, develop him, etc.

I think Dunbar was a huge get, that just didnt work out.

In HINDSIGHT of course can say he Dunbar was terrible.

But back then he Dunbar was, and should have been considered a good get, that didnt work out.

Nobody thought Dunbar belonged on a PAC 12 floor, he was ranked a 1 Star 59 by espn nowhere near PAC 12 caliber which is why he was available at such a late date and why he was willing to jump a WSU offer

Yes i agree as Smith cannot hide from his past. He has little offer solid potential recruits with tales of his post season appearances during a lengthy coaching career.

Arizona will be hosting Stanley Umude on May 6 and he is considered a very strong lean to Arizona Expect a commit soon after may 6 visit .You guys are setting the bar way too high for a program with adequate facilities and a mediocre coach.

I have never seen a person (you and you 2) want so badly for a coach to fail at a school you supposedly care about. If he fails, what would that prove? The administration is trying a Leach approach to basketball. Certainly it is worth the gamble. I am betting it will work out. If nothing else, it will be worth watching how the approach (Nerdball) works out.

That was probably only ESPN, and even if others, altho yes it was true that he ended up not being able to hack it at the pac 12 level, it:

EVERYTHING I SAID ABOUT HIM WAS TRUE.

He was either OVERHYPED by everyone and that is why he had so many awards, accolades, GREAT STATS, HYPE, INTEREST FROM KENTUCKY, ETC, before everyone backed off, the hype faded, then he signed with WSU, then he didnt do well because he was not good, was overhyped, etc

Or

Kent failed miserably on developing him

And Or both.

But even if he was overhyped, its understandable why he was overhyped.

There is a reason he was the focus of a Hoops Dream like documentary

There is a reason why Team Shifty was created, and why he Dunbar made Team Shifty.

There is a reason why he DESTROYED competition at highschool, AAU level.

There is a reason why he was PROJECTED AS A PROBABLE 4,5 STAR BY ALL THE EXPERTS, PUNDITS, ETC

There is a reason why almost everyone thought he Dunbar, and his friend would goto Kentucky, Kansas, North Carolina, etc, and that when his friend did go to Kentucky, that they thought that he Dunbar would go to Kentucky also

There was a reason why almost everybody wanted Dunbar to goto their college, BEFORE the HYPE faded.

Like I said me, others had been following Dunbar A EXTREMELY LONG TIME BEFORE WSU WAS EVER IN THE MIX.

There is a reason why BACK WHEN DUNBAR WAS.IN 8TH, 9TH, 10TH, ETC GRADE, THAT DUNBAR WAS HYPED, PROJECTED AS A 4, 5 STAR.

AND IF YOU, OTHERS HAD WATCHED THE DOCUMENTARY ON ABOUT DUNBAR, IF YOU OTHERS HAD SEEN HIS VIDEOS OF HIM DESTROYING COMPETITION, INSTEAD OF ONLY HAVING HINDSIGHT, OR INSTEAD OF ONLY SEEING HIM DUNBAR AFTER THE HYPE FADED OR AFTER HE DIDNT WORK OUT, YOU WOULD GET WHY HE WAS HYPED SO MUCH.

2020 offer to Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe - 6'7" SF out of Canada. I was just wondering if anything is happening with international recruits (as in over the pond) that wouldn't necessarily hit sites like verbal commits.

Don't worry about ElC. He is not a Coug, he's an imposter.

Certainly agree with you about the upcoming basketball season being worth watching. CEK's teams were not.

A Players Program is trending toward A Probation Program, FYI.

Mediocre? I set the bar where I want it, ElC. I just spent the past five seasons avoiding watching a JV2 "coach." Bye, troll.
