....word is 4 schools, Virigina, NC, Clemson and FSU are against it.

All 4 schools, by the way, are rumored to be candidates for the Big-10 and SEC respectively.

Those 4 schools should let them in. That would make it easier for them to exit.

I read the GOR is pretty solid. They can leave, but they pay a massive exit fee.

Florida State apparently has hired a VC firm to see if private equity can be used to help finance the ACC buy-out. Yes, it's coming to that.

Kind of a catch 22 there, no? If Furd and Cal join, and the league immediately falls apart, what do they gain from joining?
Sounds like their GOR is damn near bulletproof. It’s the biggest thing holding FSU and Clemson. But I doubt they specified how the buyout could be paid…as long as they get the money, why would they care?

Word is that part of the draw of Stanford and Cal is to shore up academic reputation and to prepare for members leaving - which seems inevitable. If FSU and Clemson really want out, let Stanford & Cal in. That way they’ve been replaced already, and their cut is reduced so they can bitch about that even more.

The exit fee is a big number, but that's not the issue. In addition, the ACC will own the media income from FSU FB games till 2035, and that is the bitch.

I’m going to keep saying it. We’re likely headed to the MWC, and we should extend an invitation to Stanford and Cal for all sports but football and work to partner with the WCC to form a dynamic Western Olympic Sports alliance.

CP, I think Stanford and Cal view Fresno State the way WSU looks at Boise State as far as academic standards and prestige go

There's no question about that, but hopefully a levelheaded consultant like Oliver Luck can lay out the pros and cons about athletics in todays marketplace.

Stanford has gobs of money, and if they're intent on only being affiliated with elite academic institutions, they can perhaps join the Ivy League for a few years and wait this out. Join the ACC perhaps, although their future is teetering on the brink as well. The B!G is a logical destination for them, especially if Notre Dame eventually joins; however they can't compete with the blue-bloods in football and men's basketball if they maintain their ultra-high admission standards and refuse to play the NIL game.

If I had Stanford's ear for 15 minutes, the first question I would ask them is what matters more to you, regionality and taking care of your student athletes or competing in a conference with blue-blood NIL and academic sellouts. I would then sell them on the concept of staying West and helping to create a galvanized association of all of the programs in the MWC and WCC on the Olympic sports front. I know I keep beating that horse, but I believe that there is going to be a huge uptick in women's athletics in the coming decade. Let's get ahead of the curve and throw a net around the State's West of Colorado and sell recruits on the advantages of competing regionally.

Why do you think there’s going to be an uptick in women’s athletics? There’s a pretty fair chance Title 9 is going to be challenged and could very well be thrown out with the current makeup of the scotus

The media companies are driving women's athletics hard now. I don't see that changing.

I think when the dust settles Title IX will remain and supposedly transgender women will NOT be allowed to compete against biological women. The original intention of the rule to protect and promote WOMEN's aports will prevail. As it should.

Seeing what's his dick Thomas competing in swimming against Riley Gaines and the rest of the biological women in insane.
