And so it begins

about 55% of voters believe in the mandates, there is probably about another 20- 25% that will go along with it. So you have about 25% of the people that are opposed to mandates, I would imagine the numbers are probably close to that in our donor base 75/25. Mr Rankich is on one side of the spectrum and there are twice as many on the other side, needless to say, none of this is good as we all need to be on the same side. I can also tell you there were plenty of donors withholding money until something was done.

The Hogg family is very upset as well. If you have to make a move, allow his accomodations until Nov 27th and then make the move. Making it now doesn't benefit the players or WSU at all.

Should have all State employees been given accommodations until Nov 27th and then let go or just the most visible and highest paid state employee?

Probably not, however if it is true that the State approved the exemption, wouldn't it have been solely up to WSU to decide whether they could make an accommodation for however long they saw fit? That's all I have to say about that.

Ok a couple of serious questions, could you tell us where you got those numbers and if they are mutually exclusive to WA State? If those numbers do represent WA state, where do you think most of the 55% approve numbers came from? King County perhaps? I'd argue that the majority of King County believes in the mandates but that number drops significantly outside of King. I don't doubt, however, that there are donors who are/were withholding some form of a donation pending the outcome of this debacle.

The issue with that is cause for termination. If Rolovich could be accommodated for six weeks, why not the remainder of his contract?

Gallup polls have it at about 60%, nation wide look it up, washington state was 55%, I am not going to cut and paste. I think the mandate is BS, but I am in the minority according to the polls. If I could find something showing a majority were against it I would post it.

So the real numbers are what?

I don’t know what % support mandates but I feel confident in saying most people would like to see as many people as possible vaccinated.

Nothing wrong with this and I completely support the idea. Mandating to get a vaccine such as this one, not so much.

I just want to make sure I read this correctly … you are ok with vaccine mandates just not this one ? It is a legit question . I don’t want to put words in your mouth.

who gives a shit about what rankich has to say?
It obviously is of interest, at minimum, if major donors are pissed off about this and withhold donations (subject to it seeming likely many on the other side of this issue may be motivated to donate now). One reason to give a shit is that those on the other side, if sufficiently motivated, may want to donate and to be vocal about that decision, and they may not have been motivated enough if not for comments like Rankich's getting visibility.

That's distinct from our views of any of this as random fans. (I don't support Rolo's stance on this, with the near-certain eventuality we are witnessing now in mind when I wrote he should just get the vaccine months ago.) This also isn't impacting my donations one way or the other.

Polio, Small Pox Variola Major et al, yes I would support that vaccine mandate due to the severity of the disease. Covid pales, in the best way possible, in comparison to those diseases.

When you look at the type of jobs that people who got accommodations performed it is pretty obvious that Rolo's doesn't fit. He was in contact with far to many people. I don't think it was possible for Rolo to do his job and meet the requirements for accommodation.

If donors are loyal to the coach, that is their business. WSU was here long before Rolovich and will still be here long after Rolovich is gone. They need to make a choice, do they support Rolo, or do they support WSU?

Allowing "major donors" to call the shots is a terrible idea and under no circumstances should the AD be held hostage by people with inflated egos.

Oh so it really isn’t about mandated . It is about this vaccine and this mandate . So you would be fine if it killed more people, is that accurate?

How many people did polio kill on a yearly basis until they got the vaccine ?

Bad example. And they didn't dictate draconian lock downs. Polio's biggest spectre was that it struck indiscriminately and mostly children.

So you too are ok with mandates? But what was the number of kids that passed away due to polio?

The idea of delaying the decision until Nov 27 or something doesn't work. For one thing, what if they're bowl eligible? Do you then wait until Jan 1? Problem is that the deadline wasn't set by the school, and if they used a different threshold for Rolo, they open themselves up to the class action suit from everyone else who was dismissed yesterday. Nope, it all had to be on the same date.

Letting the players have input doesn't work either, partially for the same reason - who else gets to weigh in on instructors, janitors, etc. who got dismissed? And more fundamentally, why let the lunatics run the asylum?

The process had to be the same for everyone. If they'd show any sort of favoritism for anyone, that would have created a bigger issue. If they did nothing else right, WSU set up a process that appears to have treated all employees the same way...as they should have.
