Another big time guy leaving

Not sure how much longer before Coach Smith throws up the white flag and moves on himself. He can recruit very good players to Pullman but can't re-recruit them to stay, ostensibly without a vault full of money to hand out. The sad thing is most of us saw this coming once the unregulated NIL and portal was unleashed.

This is making me rapidly lose interest in college sports. It’s frustrating to see the impacts the NIL and portal has on WSU and similar colleges along with conference expansion. The time is approaching to where I will say enough is enough and I will no longer watch or attend games. I have already done this with professional sports and it will be an easy transition for college sports.

At 1 ppg, 1 rebound per game, Diongue is not leaving because of a NIL deal. NIL Deals do not go to players that only get 1 ppg, 1 rpg.

Diongue is probably leaving to try to get more playing time. Problem for Diongue, is it's either going to be as a bench reserve at another Mid Major, P5, etc, or as a starter at a not as good mid major, like Idaho, EWU, Whitworth college.

And if he had stayed at WSU, he was due to get a lot of playing time this coming season.

If a Idaho, EWU type gets Diongue, they would be getting a steal, as the only reason Diongue got 1 ppg, 1 rebound per game, is that he didn't get enough playing time to get more because of the players in front of him.

If Diongue had played more, he would have gotten about 5.7 ppg, and 5.9 rebounds per game off the bench

If Diongue would have stayed at WSU, Diongue would have gotten about 6.3 ppg, 6.7 rebounds per game as either a starter, bench player that played lots of minutes.

Now if he transfers to another P5, he would only get 1 ppg, 1 rebound per game again, due to be buried on bench again.

Because of that Diongue is making a big mistake in leaving WSU.

Another reason Diongue might be leaving WSU, is maybe Smith found a 6-9.5, 234, big man to replace Gueye, should Gueye not withdraw from draft, not return to WSU, and maybe Smith told the players like Diongue, and is keeping his find under wraps, etc.

In any case, if Smith now does not find a good replacement for Gueye, Diongue, WSU's Frontcourt will be a lot weaker.

And even if WSU, Smith replaced Gueye, Diongue, there might be the unfair perception, that all these players are leaving WSU, because maybe there is a problem with either WSU or Smith or both.

So Diongue leaving WSU is not only probably a mistake, it can end up hurting WSU, etc.

But it's not likely to be NIL in regards to Diongue.

Oh Well, hopefully Smith finds, has found another big.

The rumor on brandx is there is a portal big coming in. Bamba and Gueye hosted Diongue on his trip last year given their shared African lineage. Maybe those things coupled pushed him into the portal.

Diongue had a ways to go. He just seems like a great kid to have in the program who eventually probably develops enough to become productive. Wish he would have stuck around. We will see what they do with another ride.

Time for Chinyelu to step up, shine, because if he doesn't, WSU's Frontcourt would probably be in a world of hurt.

Rumor becomes fact plus another guard. Isaac Jones is the big from UI. Looks like a pretty good get although obviously the level of competition goes up Big Sky to Pac.

Watts (Grandson of Slick) was committed to Seton Hall, but reopened recruitment. No idea who else interested or offered.

Funny, everytime a transfer depresses me the staff makes some good move that provide a positive outlook…

We got the better end of this deal, Diongue was one of the most overrated 4 star recruits I’ve seen in a long time. By his JR year I think he could have been a productive/solid player but I personally didn’t see him contributing much next year. Jones will take a little time to adjust but imo will contribute right away.

Smith Pulling Miraculous Rabbit Replacements out of his hat, anytime, everytime a hole, need appears, anytime, everytime a player, or lots of players transfers, leaves WSU via portal, graduation, NBA draft, etc.

6-9 Isiah Jones averaged 26 ppg at Wenatchee Valley College, won ALL the Awards, Accolades there. Then transfered to Idaho, where he was the best player, and best newcomer player, where he averaged 19.5 ppg, and 7.8 rebounds per game.

He has a excellent post, inside outside game, and has a good Midrange jumper, and is a ok passer. He has extreme jump out of gym athleticism, and will be a Senior at WSU, and can elect to stay at WSU for a 5th year senior year, and a COVID year.

I think he will probably put up about 15 PPG, and 6.9 rebounds at WSU, and will be a good replacement for both Gueye, and Diongue.

WSU's Frontcourt will be ok now.

Watts is 6-3 and is son of Husky Donald Watts and grandson of NBA Sonics Slick Watts, and was at West Seattle highschool before going to a prep school in the state of Connecticut, where he led the prep school to a NATIONAL HIGHSCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIP.

He had a offer from Seton Hall a semi blue blood from the Big East.

He is extremely athletic, can dribble, beat defenders off of dribble, drive, create own shot, good mid range, good 3 point shot, good defender.

Has good bloodlines

Is a SUPER HIGH END 3 Star

And again helps to build a WSU pipeline into Seattle, instead of the UW Huskies getting all the best talent in Seattle..

Now WSU's Roster is:

1, PG. Yesufu, Rice, Darling, Watt 2, SG. Powell, Darling, Jabe, Kymany, Wells. 3,SF, Wing. Kymany/Jabe/Wells/Jaki. 4,PF. Jaki, Isiah Jones, Chinyelu, Cluff, Gueye(If he returns). 5, Center. Chinyelu, Isiah Jones, Cluff, Gueye(If he returns), Jaki.

That's still a pretty good roster. It might take some time in non con for the team to Jell, develop chemistry.

This team can win about 17, 18,19,20,21 games in regular season, about 8-4, 9-3, 10-2, 11-1 in non con. About 10-10, 11-9, 12-8, 13-7, tied for 3rd, tied for 4th, alone in 5th, alone in 6th, etc, in conference, 0,1,2 PAC 12 tourny wins, NIT final 2/4/NCAA bubble, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th seed, play in game in NCAA Tournament, 2nd Round Elimination in NCAA. 23,24,25 Total wins after tournaments.

And NJIE will be coming in the very next season after this coming season, and will probably replace Yesufu as starting PG.
