At this point it seems like Chun doesn't see Dickert as a possibility. So it'll make it confusing if he names him HFC.

Really? For whatever reason I’ve got the impression through the way various people have been talking it’s somewhat likely he’s the coach. Supposedly they’ve reached out to possible OCs.

What makes you draw that conclusion? Chun seems to keep his hiring process close to vest and it looks to me like he's simply not saying anything positive or negative about Dickert until after the next two games play out.

If you listen to Chun on the radio show this week, he expects wins in the last two games, easy for him to say. Not to difficult to read between the lines and realize Dicket needs to win both games to win the job.

Again, that's foolish. Dickert's the guy or he's not. Waiting to make sure he beats Arizona and UW shows you don't believe in the guy. It's reactive.

No. There is a lot to learn about how a guy leads a team. Especially when he has never done so. Dickert needs to complete the interview process. Especially if other candidates have more head coaching experience than he does.

Bingo. He's let Chun (and the world) know he wants to be the head coach. This is his best opportunity to demonstrate to Chun that he has the tools to be successful at Wazzu in that capacity. Changes instituted by Dickert between the Oregon and AZ games will be a huge evaluation tool for Chun, as will changes made between the AZ and UW games. I don't think it's as simple as Wins and Losses. Onus is on Dickert to show Chun he's got what it takes. On one hand he's got an advantage over other candidates in that he can demonstrate to Chun his ability to assess, adapt, and guide a team comprised of players and assistant coaches, but on the other hand he has to put his money where his mouth is and actually get performance. Other candidates can rely on past performance and simply talk the talk.

There's no evidence that Chun is impulsive in his response and reactive in his decisions or actions.

(I wrote that with a straight face).

There’s no better interview than the next couple of weeks. Let’s see how he does. These are both not only winnable games but ones where if the Cougs bring their best ball they should roll.

A 7-5 finish with a shot at 8 wins is about as good as you’re gonna get with the drama this season. And there was meat on the bone too. Could have been a 10 win season.

geezus, do you ever quit?
I’m kinda with him on the ten wins. Maybe for different reasons. I put USU on Rolo. And I put SC and Utes on the fact that we didn’t have JDL for six quarters. I’m sure that’s overly simplistic and some breaks would have to come our way. But that is how I’m going to remember ‘22 when I retire in ten years. Assuming I still can remember anything.

For all of the chaos, I will remember this season fondly. I didn’t expect much at the beginning of the year. I wasn’t too thrilled that Leach left and was even less thrilled about it after the shit show from last year. After the SC game I expected even less. The way the team rallied behind each other and the remaining staff has been a pleasant surprise and beyond anything I thought possible earlier this season.

Utah State and BYU, pissed away. Missed opportunity hurts.

You can't change the dna of a team - this team is too young and without player leadership to have won 10 games. I will concede that USU was a wasted game, but all in all this is an average to good team, not a great team which is what 10 wins is.

Good teams tend to win the games they should (WSU is 90% of the way there), lose to better teams (BYU, Oregon), drop one to a lesser team (USU) and win one they shouldn't (ASU), more or less. That'll get you to between 6 and 8 wins, which is where they'll land. Thats nothing to be upset about, considering the limitations we have at QB, OL, and DL.

I think you are responding to the wrong person there bud. He was agreeing with you.

In any case, I am pleased with the results this year.

I haven't seen them lay an egg in terms of effort this year. In fact, probably
the hardest working group I've seen here in a while.

In addition to the above comments, too bad we didn't get that TD on the 2nd play from scrimmage. That could have made a different ball game. Not saying we would win, but it certainly changes the game. It was a lot closer than a 14 pt loss imo
