Any news on Kingston?

It didn't look good. Looked like he was hitting the trainer because of the pain so I assumed knee. The field was trash today. Stanford lost like 4 players due to footing issues.

Didn't look like a footing injury though. Replay showed a DL rolling up on him from behind, not anything he could have done about it. Sucks for him and the team, just have to hope it turns out to be less of an injury than we suspect at this point.

Amen to that. Looked like a knee.

Part of the difference between Leach's offense and this offense....with the wider splits and minimal pulling and trapping you don't have bodies flying around your knees like they do now.

While the field looked like hell, had nothing o do with Kington's knee injury.

Considering the bionic leg braces they all wear now hoping it’s a sprain and the 17 pounds of metal took the bulk of the damage. That’s what they wear those things for to keep plays like that from altering someone’s future.

Per coach. Kingston out for the year.
Seeing it live and then the way he left, I suspected this. Significant for us the rest of the way, since our OL play wasn’t that great even with him there. We were less effective Saturday after he left, even against a bad Stanford team.

Part of development is learning technique. Part is physical development. Part is mental development, particularly understanding everyone's assignments. And part is learning each other so well you "know" what everyone will do in a particular situation (both scripted and unscripted). OL in particular need all four. I assume the physical and technique parts are continuing; they are both a long term journey, not a destination. The mental development has made steady progress. I saw few missed assignments against Stanford; a contrast to early season. When a back up has to come in, you generally lose a little in the physical and/or technique areas (that is why they are a back up). Since they have all been a part of the same group, however, the mental and mind reading aspect should see little drop off at this point in the season. We will miss Kingston, but I don't expect a huge drop off.

Hilborn is supposedly the strongest guy on the team with an extra side of nastiness to him. Lets hope whoever they put there will help improve OL efficiency.
