Currently 25-10 WSU. They are looking really really good.

Cougs up 39-16 with about 3 1/2 minutes left in the half. Everyone is playing hard and playing well

Halftime Cougs up 41-25. UCSB tightened up their defense the last few minutes, and made a 7-0 run near the end of the half.

Gueye missed that shot, but damn. 6'11" and can handle the ball like that?

Damn, I didn't realize WSU was only 2-15 from three. Yet, they are still up by 16, 64-48.

Roberts having an off night shooting so far. 4-12, and 1-5 beyond the arc.

It really is.

Separately, Gauchos is a cool school mascot name. WAC overall has the best, IMO. Wonder if Steely Dan is played there during warm ups.
Gouchos is really good. It is unique. Steely Dan. Such a great group. If they don't, they should.

We really should have won by at least 20. Smith said he was angry after the game I think just from the standpoint of we allowed them to stick around due to turnovers, bad shots, etc. Really shot poorly from 3.

I thought Noah really came to play tonight. Efe is still a bit slowed but made good decisions for the most part. Roberts needs to take better shots but was really good early. Bamba did a good job finishing at times. Gueye had some special moments.

UCSB is a solid team and we really outclassed them for much of the game. As health and lineup start to tighten up we look like a team that will cause a lot of problems.

I'll have to listen to Smith's post game interview tomorrow. I agree, they should have won by at least 20. It is a game that had a lot of good things happen. But, the staff will also be able to use to teach.

In the second half, besides and a few drives to the basket, the mid range, and 3-point shooting was awful.

Lastly, an all around game by Abodigi, 6-7 FG shooting, 6-7 from the line, for 18 points. 8 rebounds, 6 blocks, 2 steals, and two assists.

Overall, a good win against a good team. But, still work to do.

Yea, they got lazy the last two minutes and the Gauchos got some garbage points. We need to work on keeping teams off the free throw line. Teams are shooting 20+ free throws, granted some of it's officiated, but following doesn't allow us to play our defense. In the end it's a good win and that is what will matter in March, not the margin of victory.

A lot of depth on this team, a lot of fouls to give in some situations. However they need to pick and choose their spots a little more carefully.

This team has a lot of room to grow, but what a great game and an amazing 1st half. Don't think SFS prepared UCSB for the speed and athleticism of WSU. The cougs came out and punch them in the mouth and it took them a while to start punching back. I don’t think it helped to have Dewulf along with some back up play for a good stretch at the end of the 1st half. I know Efe was still in limited minutes, there were some foul issues, and we had a big lead, but I think not having a rim/post defender along with limited scoring options at that time allowed UCSB to gain confidence to end the half. That trend continued much of the second half and it looked to me that when Efe was in we would extend the lead a little and when he was on the bench UCSB went on a little run. Excited to watch this team grow. The potential is there for them to be special.

That was richly understated 1990. For that first 10 or 12 minutes they were looking Tony Bennettish-George Ravelingish good. Not only NCAA-worthy, but moving through the brackets worthy. One could easily postulate that their athleticism surpasses the Bennett-Raveling teams, and their depth certainly does. DeWolf off the bench is at least in the ballpark of any of those teams' deep reserves. Midway through the conference season I could see this team jelling to be right in the mix with the Bruins, Ducks, Beavers for top of the standings. All of this with the caveat the new guard brigade continues to develop and maintain a decent shot %.

That was a semi epic game, win. Not as big as a Gonzaga win would be, but still semi epic non con win.

There are, were 4 teams, that I used to think might be capable of beating WSU in the Non Con.

Winthrop(Past NCAA Tourny team), UCSB, New Mexico(ST), BSU.

UCSB finished 1st in Big West last season, went to NCAA Tournament, took Creighton down to wire, brink. Creighton is a perenial Powerhouse. UCSB is picked 1st again in Big West, picked to make it to at least 2nd Round in NCAA tourny. Sow is probably a future semi NBA prospect for UCSB.

And WSU, SCHREDDED, DOMINATED all that, despite bad 3 point shooting!

If WSU had had made their freethrows, mid range jumpers, and 50% from 3, they would have won by 29!

Truly a semi epic win!

1st Test down, 3 more to go. But now only Winthrop might have a prayer of a chance to beat WSU.

I doubt UCSB was a fluke, but, so 3 more test in Winthrop, New Mexico(St), BSU. But when WSU beats Winthrop....

WSU will probably go 10-1, 11-0, 9-2 in non con. No Gonzaga level non con teams. I think WSU will go about 9-9,10-8,11-7,7-11, 4th to 7th, in conference, win between 19-12 at worst to 24-7 at best. And will probably win about 21,22 on average, be a bubble at large last 4 into NCAA Tourny, and about between a 7th seed to 11th seed, and be knocked out in 2nd Round.

Efe was ONLY 18 points, 8 rebounds, 6 blocks, 2 steals, thunder dunks, good defense, 2 assist.

Noah scored 13. Mike Flowers only had his usual about 5,6,7 assist to go with 11 points.

And even though Gueye scored 8, his skills, ball handling, remind me of a taller version of 6 10.5 ex NBA Sonic All Star Rashard Lewis. Gueye's ball handling, skills, moves, driving, athleticism, distributing, scoring inside, etc, at about 6-11.5 to 7.0 to 7-1, with a 7-4 wingspan, is amazing. No wonder he is both starting and producing as a true freshman, and no wonder he is projected as a future NBA lottery pick prospect. When he can hit a midrange jumper, 3 pointer more consistently, watch out!
