Congratulations to Brandon Arconado, named 1st team Academic All-American. He's the first Cougar to make the first team since Jason Hanson in 1991. Great kid, former walk-on to top flight receiver....and does the job in the classroom too. He'll be a success whatever he ends up doing.

Yep, very cool. I have a lot of respect for that young man. Could of quit, moved on from WSU, at least several times because of lack of play time. He Stuck it out, schollied, and became the best receiver on our team this year. whoever hires him in the business world will be very lucky.

Heard his name walking this weekend at Graduation. We have a lot of talent of course but we are going to miss him. He's a great story.

I didn't think I could respect him any more. I was wrong.

You make us proud young man.

Wish college football paid as much attention to the scholar athletes as performance on the field. It is cool to be smart AND
athletic. Good for Brandon. What an awesome story he has become.

Looking forward to reading the reporters' columns on how Leach continues to improve player academics and grad. rates. Also seems a decrease every year in off the field issues and quick boots when they arise.

They say Leach embarrasses the university by taking down some blow hard columnist but they collectively refuse to focus on important stuff. Then they seem mystified why people are increasingly distrustful of journalists. Maybe it is because people have a brain and know how to distinguish between what is important and what is grade school level angst about trivial matters.

In fairness their was an article in the Spokesman Review about it but not by John Blowhard.
