So it’s $95 to go from Phoenix to San Diego (354 miles) with multiple stops. But last season it was $90 to go from Pasco to Pullman (133 miles) with no stops.

Probably a nicer bus too.

Makes sense.

So there was a rooter bus(ses) from the TC last year?

Just for fun I looked at what Greyhound currently costs. $120+/- roundtrip from Pasco to Pullman. Would need to get a hotel room too. BUT, point being that if Greyhound costs $120, it shouldn't cost $90 to find and fill a bus full of Cougs. IMHO.

I saw them advertised, but never rode it. At that price, there was little incentive to take the bus.

A few years ago the buses were being managed by the Alumni association. It was $35 or $40 per seat. At that price, if it was just me going, it was cheaper than the gas...and I could drink. It was a great deal. Athletics took it over in 2023 and jacked the price up to $90. Big surprise, they said that they weren't doing buses this year because there wasn't enough interest.

Since there are WSU fan watch parties, why not do what the WSU fans do to have watch parties, tailgate parties, etc?

WSU does not own, control, Brand X, Y, Z, Die Hard Cougs, Alumni, Fans, etc. Oh I'm sure they try, and succeed at doing so at times, and that fans let WSU do that.

But if WSU Fans, Alumni, boosters, etc, tried to do buses, etc, and if WSU tried to come in and take it over, and if the WSU Fans, Alumni, Boosters told WSU that WSU wasn't taking it over, and if WSU fans, alumni, boosters, didn't let WSU take it over, and if the WSU fans, alumni, booster came together, pulled their money, buying power together to get cheap $40 to $60 buses, instead of WSU either taking it over, jacking up prices to $100, or saying no buses, then there wouldn't be a damn thing WSU could do about it, and the fans, alumni, boosters, would be able to get buses, cheaper buses, do whatever they want within reason, etc.

If WSU fans, alumni, boosters can organize watch parties, they can do buses, whatever they want.

The only thing stopping them is Fan, Alumni, Booster, APATHY, and where they let, WSU walk all over them.

The difference between WSU, and even MWC, AAC fans, etc, is that other colleges fans do whatever they want within reason. And if their college try to stop them, take over, etc, they say FU, and proceed to do watch parties, tail gates, get organize cheaper buses, etc, anyways while flipping the bird at their college for trying to stop them, take it over, jack up the price, etc.

And that's because other even other small college fans don't tolerate shet from their college, are not apathetic, are not like WSU fans, alumni, boosters, etc.

And until WSU fans, alumni, booster become more like those other even semi small college fans.

Then SHET is what WSU fans, alumini, boosters will semi consistently, semi inconsistently, semi occasionally, etc, get on and off, etc.

That's factual, truth, reality, etc.

And it goes 2 ways, both ways, as WSU does a shet job at marketing, selling, cultivating good relationships, good fan experiences, etc, for their fans, alumni, boosters, and until they, WSU does, so, WSU will be stuck with dwindling, apathetic Fans, alumni, boosters.

The AD fumbling an easy way to continue fan interest, engagement, and good will?! Shocked!

Wow. Our Athletic Dept. is so f-ed up, and apparently continues with Anne McCoy in charge. And here in YakiVegas, I don't think there was ever a bus. Or watch parties for that matter. Even though there are lots of Cougs in the Valley.

Well the bungling of the buses predates Anne, that was a Chun thing. My guess is he saw it as another way to squeeze dollars out of some fans. What he failed to realize is that if he put them on the bus for what it cost, or even slightly less, they'd be captive in Pullman for a few hours and would probably spend more money on campus.

And, with that failure, the metrics that Anne had to look at were that X number of people rode the bus and it lost money. The history on why it lost money walked with Chun.

Here's an old link for details. I think this was from about 2015, when it was $25 to ride the bus. I think it crept up about $5 every couple years right up until athletics took it over. Every time I rode it there were at least 2 buses, and they were usually full. Sometimes I think there were 3. I used to ride it pretty frequently, especially for the 7 & 7:30 kickoffs. Much easier than driving that road home myself at midnight.

I just flew down there (PHX) from Spokane last weekend...$149 R/T. Of course, it was on Allegiant; hadn't been on a plane without a screen in the headrest since the early aughts (and that was Aeroflot). I'm definitely thinking about snow-birding it, but I like Tucson a bit better (they have a ski "resort"). A trailer in a 55+ community is in reach...

Great link. $25-30 in 2015 does not equate to $90 in 2023. And don't let Anne off the hook. According to all PR reports when she was made AD, she ran the Athletic Dept singlehandedly for years. She was the CFO before Chun arrived. She could have easily, on Day 1, said hey, we need to restore the charter busses at a reasonable cost, we need to try to get CougAir back. Instead we have the "paint Martin Stadium Crimson and White" campaign.

I'd take the bus from YakiVegas. Might even drive to Pasco and hop it. Have a great time and get a TC hotel upon my return cuz I'd be drunk. But not for $90. But instead we get the Coug faces telling us to get off our asses and get to Pullman and get ripped off by the hotels and busted for speeding in Colfax. Absolutely no vision. No grassroots efforts.

How the F did we ever sell out Martin Stadium when it held nearly 40K? I guess my 6 season tickets helped.

Wait...aren't these the exact same things? Taihtsat

Are you doing any fan parties this season with your motor home?

Are you doing any fan parties this season with your motor home?

It's not a motor home. It's a 2011 19 ft long Shadowcruiser travel trailer.

I'm shooting for about Nov 4th at the earliest, to Dec 4th, Jan 4th, Feb 4th, March 4th at extreme latest, as far as when I move to Phoenix area, Arizona.

I have $800 saved up now, and Save about $165 to $200 to $250 to $300 to $333 a month, so at that rate I will have the $1000 to $1250 I need to either pay a Snow Bird friend to take my trailer, me down to one of the $600 a month RV lots in Greater Phoenix area Arizona, or pay $1500 to $1750 to $1850 to have Trailer shipped there, and then I fly down there separately, I will have the money I need, and arrangements, logistics, etc, taken care of by, between November and March.

Hopefully it doesn't snow bad this winter.

Because of that, that there is only a few home games I can goto. Also in order to do a RV party, I would need some WSU fan to haul 19 ft RV, and me to game and back, and then there is the cost of RV permit, pass, or finding a place in Pullman where can legally park it, without expensive cost, semi closer to the game stadium. And then there is the cost of the food, etc, of the party.

Now I probably could chip in about $37 to help with gas cost, about $23 to $33 to $43 to $53 whatever a game ticket would cost. And about $25 to $35 to $45 in food for party, for about $100 to $115 to $125 to $135 total investment on my part, but it would take a lot of variables, conditions being met, etc, to have this all happen, to get both me, my 19ft RV, to 1 of the home games, find a place for it, have a party, have a bunch from here show up at party, then goto game, and handle clean up, and then me, my RV get back home, etc.

So it's possible to happen, but chances of it happening are probably about, between about 3% to 7% to 13% to 23%

I'm probably better off seeing how much the Spokane Cougar Bus charges, or how much the trailways, Greyhound buses charge, and then maybe buying game ticket, if buses not too much for my budget, and maybe taking bus to game, or maybe get ride to game, and back, and if I can get that arranged, then I buy game ticket.
