ASU prediction thread

An uninspiring loss. ASU rushes for 250+
ASU 34 WSU 31. We get out coached in 2nd half.

The sun will rise in the east and set in the west. Biggs will claim he was right about something. Sponge will complain about horizontal passing.

ASU is a strange team. They've played their best games against the two best teams they've played (UW and USC), but got pounded by Fresno, lost close games to Cal and Colorado, and barely beat Southern Utah. Not really sure what to make of them.

Cougs don't typically play very well in Tempe. Last year was a bit of an anomaly. I don't have enough confidence in either our defense or our offense to see us overcoming the desert 2 years in a row.

Need 30+ points to win, if the offensive scores 35 it's a win, a low scoring game will not work in the Cougs favor. Hopefully the offensive we saw the first 4 weeks shows up.

I see a game a lot like UCLA. Watching ASUs defense against WA reminded me of that. I hadn’t seen Penix rattled before. They had him rattled. UCLA got Ward rattled too. ASU also grinds out running yards like UCLA.

I said it before I think you’ve got to be happy if we just get a W. This game will probably be ugly AF.

I usually don't predict, and won't on this one either. I'm just scratching my head. How can we play UCLA and Whoregon fairly tough, but get the doors blown off at home against UA? And beat otherwise undefeated OSU? Talk about Jeckyl and Hyde.

I was prowling around the Brand X football board, there was a Jenkins-related comment linking highlights of the Ghost and Rueben Mayes. What stood out most was the blocking. Major holes for them to step into. Second, the way they hit the holes and the outside hard and fast.

Loyal, I have to point out that O line blocking training & technique on the Coug teams with Rueben & Jerome were light years from what most primarily air raid teams work on with their O lines. For good or bad....

ASU has held most of the teams they’ve played under 400 yards and many of them under 350. If we win 17-13 I’ll be thrilled. I can see us getting physically dominated up front and ground into desert sand.

The game comes down to 2 things to me.
1) turnovers. If we don't turn the ball over and are able to force a few, we will be difficult to beat. So much of the Arizona/UCLA games were the result of dumb turnovers. Oregon was able to pull away from us because we couldn't force any.
2) Ward v Ward: Brian Ward is very familiar with Cam Ward. ASU'S performance against UW last week shows his ability to gameplan an opponent he's familiar with. Cam has an understanding of Brian's defense as well. If he can make plays, he's going to lead us to a W. All we need is a repeat of the Oregon performance.

First, I have to argue that WSU is not an "Air Raid" team. No wide splits, we use a tight end. We are simply, as I've said before, a spread offense just like about every team out there these days.

Second, I don't dispute what you say. But the clips are worth a gander. Holes at the line big enough to drive my Silverado through. The backs do the rest.
