Said it was a direct result of Breske getting canned. According to his dad we're still in the running but everything will hinge on who we hire as the new DC.
He's visiting the ewe and donkey state this week/next week.

That's fine- just seems like common sense that if you fire the guy who's both your DC and DB coach, the DB's would look around. If his commit wasn't entirely predicated on Breske, a more qualified coach would sway him back; after all, the coaches at the other schools he's considering have a whopping one year in their respective positions- they're not exactly Gibraltar.

that was premature. He can still look around without the official pronouncement. wait to see what happens, etc

We will see. I get that firing Breske might stir things up, but at the same time, looking at it logically, this is odd. Our Defense was not doing well. Breske got fired for it. So Mr. Joyner is saying he wanted to be a part of a crappy Defense?

I think he's just pulling out, seeing his options, and if we can get a good name in, he'll give us serious consideration. But the excuse that it was directly because Breske got fired… he's full of it. It's just that. An excuse. More power to him, just hate that part. Just tell us the truth… I'm stepping back, looking at my options and we'll see whom is coming in to replace Breske.

probably bowing to pressure from somewhere else about his decision to go to WSU, from his Dad most likely since he made the statements

He was already a soft verbal, taking visits elsewhere. Chances are within minutes of Breske getting the axe, other teams' coaches were blowing up his phone.

And I get all that. I'm not some naive young'un with spots on my back… Truth just always seems better.

Agree with you.

He's done with us IMO. We won't reel him back. I mean, how many times do teams get a guy back after he de-commits? I'd say not very often.

Prior to verballing to WSU he un-verballed from UW when Sark went south. Change the coach, act on impulse. And Sark wasn't going to be coaching him at a DB spot, anyway. I'd say 75% UW, 15% Boise State, 5% WSU, 5% University of Somewhere.

Doubt we see him again. I'm sure it's happened, but I can't think of anyone who has decommitted and then recommitted. To me, making the announcement IS the decision, not the doubt before the decision.

I never really saw this kid coming to WSU anyway .... so I don't feel I've lost anything.

But I mean, c'mon, if the kid is talented enough, he could come in and be a 4 year starter at CB for the Cougs..... then with that exposure, NFL scouts will find you, 100%. If you're good enough. Seems like a great opportunity being thrown away.

Best wishes, where ever you end up.
