According to Jacob Thorpe. Depth is a little thin at CB now, especially with Molten banged up. But, it is understandable, as Porter has not played a snap this year.

This could hurt us in the near future… Hope not.

I don't understand leaving before the end of the season. Stick it out and you never know what could happen with 6 games left. Get to a bowl and you get a holiday trip out of the deal.

Red shirt season?
Not sure how that would work. Unless there is something we do not know about, he left on his own volition. So, he would be able to transfer at the end of the semester. But, you have to be at a program for a year I thought, unless the previous school removes him from the team (ala Priester). I don't think WSU would fight him playing immediately for another school (Clemson allowed Priester to suit up this year). But, it is the year thing that makes me wonder if he can use this as a redshirt year in regards to a transfer and play immediately.

He may be able to transfer to a JC and have this year count as his redshirt and then have three to play three at a new school.

That may work. He should be able to get the year of credits if he transfers to a school on the quarter system. He would still be able to attend two more quarters after New Years break, plus summer school would be additional if needed to be in good standing.

That's too bad. I thought they were red shirting him along with Hameed.

Hate to see anyone leave the program, spending 4-5 years at a University helps one develop a lot of long term bonds and friendships, a large part of that is lost when they leave early. I hope things work out for Porter, I admire the kid for taking a chance on WSU, and picking up his roots in Alabama and going to a school that far away. Sounds like he had a great relationship with Breske, and needless to say that was lost when he left. I am sure the team could use him down the road, but best of luck to him in the future.
