Dan Spencer named associate Head Coach. This was announced last week but there isn't any posts regarding this.

Spencer is an incredible get.

I actually made reference to this hire and linked the article in your "New Baseball Coach" post. It is all right that you posted the link again because it gives us another chance to talk about Lees and Spencer. Spencer is a terrific pitching coach and did wonders with the staff's at OSU, TT and at NM. Swenson was good, but I do think Spencer's track record is much better.

Looking forward to see who will be the other coach.

Sorry man. Didn't mean to double.

But I agree. Spencer is a good one. I think it also speaks volumes that we were able to attract these two. I don't remember who but they were commenting on baseball being lesser of a sport and we should just bag it because we'll never win. I think commenting on putting those schollies somewhere else. I gotta say, this is proof that for coaches (especially baseball because it's so steeped in "history") WSU has a tradition that is known.

For Lees to come in and someone of Spencers resume to come in right behind him… Just wow. And to put it into perspective. Spencer was Head Coach at Texas Tech AND New Mexico and has come on at WSU… and not as the head coach… that's big. That shows how much these two are excited about teaming up and what they can do at WSU. The picture that was released with the two of them together, arms around each other I think is a message. They are a team. Swenson was good. Spencer is great. Lees WITH Spencer… even better than "great".

Hmmm. Where did I get that he was… ? Cool. Thanks for the correction.
No, glad you did post again. I just added on to one of your posts. This is a separate post that will get more people to read. Spenser has just been the pitching coach at New Mexico. But, their pitching staff has improved while he was there and are among their all time best.

Saw the rumor that the other assistant might be former Coug catcher Jim Horner who is currently managing the M's AA team in Jackson. Horner spent several years at Texas Tech on Spencer's staff.

He left pro ball five years ago because he wanted more stability for his family. I could see him wanted to make the move again.

Interesting. From what I recall hearing about him, he did well coaching down in CA, didn't he?

And so it becomes true. Nice Dave! Horner is officially back home. This staff is turning into something special, quickly.

I follow our program but I am definitely more of a casual baseball fan. Appears the move from Marbut to Lees has been a big upgrade for the entire coaching staff. I would think they should be able to hold together what was a strong incoming recruiting class.

I wonder how returning players are feeling about the changes?

Casual is better than "not"!!! This is, IMHO, an upgrade of staff.

I can't imagine the returning players being anything but excited. And the return of a fellow Coug will lend credence, IMHO. And with the returning players in place (hopefully), I can see recruiting really firing up with the idea of, "We have a solid core of players and pieces coming back. Now we need you to come and fill this or this spot to take us to the next level."
