On twitter, it's out that they have reached the $10 million point in private donations. That was the goal, the tipping point to start moving. They are wanting to move forward and now start the process of going to the Board of Regents and getting approval for the "green light". Exciting news.

Coming soon.

On a different note: Wow, the CAF site needs updating. I kinda cringed at Gesser being on the front video of the Capital Projects portion, but THEN Bill Moos and reference to President Floyd was almost laughable. Also, it still had the soccer field as projects to come. lol. It's been done for almost 2 years now?

Again, another example of how they don't need to cut any jobs. There appears to be quite a few jobs that need to be done!!!! Maybe just get people in there that are organized enough to get the jobs done?!

I am delighted to see that the baseball complex is finally approaching fruition. Not surprised though at the amusing and/or annoying mistakes on the CAF website. I can understand Gesser's appearance as his problem is recent and the video is understandable. Moos and Floyd? Just another example of WSU's unfortunate history of administrative inefficiency. You mentioned "jobs that need to be done" and the first of those jobs is on Chun to change the culture of ineptitude. Do that and many of the other problems will be solved.

Back to a more positive and pleasant subject. The baseball complex is on its way. Now let's build that IPF.

I rather forget the baseball complex and use the funds to build a new basketball arena. If i had my druthers i would have WSU drop baseball.

Well dude i hate baseball. The money it takes for scholarships and other costs is prohibitive. Baseball does not produce any revenue and will not do so for at least 20 more years. I would guess that perhaps 100-200 people attend baseball games in Pullman?

First of all, WSU is already down to fielding the minimum number of teams to compete in the Pac-12. Or in D-1. Or both. So no it can't drop any sport.

Second, while it is fleeting, there have been crowds of a couple thousand for baseball games. About the same as Basketball gets these days.

And baseball historically has gotten great $$ support from its former athletes. More than you can say for probably any other sport. Certainly more than for basketball.

The actual average attendance is close to 500. That's only a few hundred less than attend Cougar basketball games, it seems, especially if we are actually counting butts in the seats. I'd be interested in seeing how much revenue the basketball program produces, especially when you factor in EK's $2.4 million annual contract.

You can hate Cougar baseball all you want, but it ain't going away. You can count on that.

Glad Cougar

On the "cutting jobs" part, I was the one saying that there are too many chiefs and not enough indians. That CAF site is an example of a symptom of that. It sounds like Chun needs to go in there and ask the current staff, "What do you say........you do here?" and figure out who's actually doing stuff and who's not. Cut the dead weight and hire someone who wants to actually get things done.

Basketball has the potential to be a revenue producing sport. Baseball ?hell you could plunk Dodger Stadium down in Pullman and you would still only get a few hundred fans a game A new basketball arena would result in better recruits, better teams, and better attendance.I guess Moos is the gift that keeps giving.I do not keep up with coug baseball but i think that their record is actually worse than the basketball teams??

we dont need a new basketball arena, an upgrade perhaps but not a total replacement. baseball is going nowhere they only have 12 scholarships so the cost is not "prohibitive"

The cost of a new facility, travel, the coaches salaries, ancillary staff and 12 scholarships for a perennial non revenue sport is prohibitive Basketball has thirteen scholarships .The sport of baseball will always be a bottomless pit which money is thrown into.If the attendance was around 5-10 thousand a game it would be different. I believe that baseball is a dying sport and attendance and fan interest will continue to decline . You guys may love baseball but there is declining interest in baseball.

To me the basketball arena is perfectly fine from a fan perspective. I don't know what the inner workings look like. Maybe the "player" areas could use a redo, but other than that, I don't see anything wrong with it.

It's not a case of "may love baseball". I do love baseball. I"m pretty sure you and I will die before the game itself dies. Keep in mind that a lot of these college sports exist for the benefit of the athletes, not for the benefit of fans.

You mentioned earlier that you don't follow baseball but that you think the program has a worse record than the basketball program. What are your parameters? Doesn't matter, you are wrong.

All time winning %:
Baseball .607
Basketball .512

Since 2005:
Baseball .492
Basketball .460

Current coaches (Marty Lees since 2016, Ernie Kent since 2014)
Baseball .402
Basketball .379

Despite my criticism of the current basketball program, I have rooted hard for the team for more than 50 years (which is why I'm not a fan of what Ernie Kent is doing). I really hope the program can turn around. A major difference between you and me is that I root for all Cougar sports and want them to succeed. I don't know too many Cougar fans who would like to see one of the school's programs go away.

Geezus dude. We can't drop any sports. I suppose we could replace Baseball with Water Polo, if that would make you happy. I guarantee you that Basketball is the bottomless pit of spent money at the current time.
