Good write up in the SR

Chun is at least trying something to help draw a few extra people to the game. Personally I'd like to see them make an area of Beasley into a giant beer garden, maybe behind one of the baskets.

Now if Chun can figure out a way to make the students show up. Maybe turn off the WiFi on campus during games except for in Beasley. I know that would work with my kids.

EWU has a set up like that - the entire east end is a beer/food area. It's only for donors but not that tough to score entrance. Structurally probably a little better set up than Beasley as there is an flat concrete-floored open area right behind the basket - maybe 40 feet from the court. Pretty nice set up.

Looking at Beasley I see a few possibilities to get the beer drinkers to a place they could watch the game. The area behind the baskets is temporary seating. Remove that and you have room for 150-200 right on the court. Call it The Coug (if they’ll step up and sponsor) and let the drunks Harass the other team when the shoot free throws Arizona State style. Hell, give them wigs, funky sunglasses etc.
Another more costly idea would be to cantilever a deck off the East horse shoe aisle out towards the basket where you could congregate and watch the game from a birds eye vantage point. Maybe drop it down 6 rows and leave those seats for those who want to sit, drink and watch.
Or....make the whole arena a beer garden except for a few family zones.
