Syracuse outscored Virginia 47-27 the second half to beat the Cavs 68-62 in the Elite Eight Bennett was seemingly out coached terribly in the second half. They had a good run and will be back next year.

Great job by Syracuse. They were not even expected to be picked for the tourney and the committee was criticized for picking them by many. Both the committee and Syracuse are having the last laugh.

Regarding Virginia, they collapsed with the pressure Syracuse brought in the second half. Tony and Virginia have been able to recruit extremely well since he has been there. So, they will be good for as long as he is there.

Hindsight is 20-20, but if UVA had to do it all over again, they probably should have pulled the ball out after breaking the full court pressure. They had the double digit lead and seemingly were doing well with their half court offense. I've never seen so many 2 on 1s go awry on the press breaker. Credit to Syracuse but that was one of the quickest evaporation of leads I've ever seen (along with the Northern Iowa vs. Texas A&M game).

Glad Cougar

It is a pleasure to watch well coached athletic teams. It seems like the Cavs have either a lot of Puerto Rican or Brazilian players on the team. i am making this assumption based solely on name recognition. Does anyone know where TB is doing most of his recruiting?

UVa got as far as I thought they would before the tournament started.

Only thing is, that I expected them to get beat by Mich. State, not Syracuse. Great job by the Orange. They are well-coached and that freshman that went off on UVa will haunt Tony for awhile in his nightmares. Even Brogdan couldn't stop him or slow him down.

Tony is a very good coach who has tweaked his system quite a bit to accommodate the better athletes he is getting at Virginia. The biggest difference is their inclination to get out in transition when the opportunity arises. Syracuse full court press got the game speeded up more than it might have against some of Tonys earlier teams.
