Bennie was one of the all time favorites at WSU, and has been in the coaching game for quite awhile. He would be as good as any, plus he should have lots of connections outside the Nortwest

Yes it should open up the Illinois-Chicago area which is a hotbed for basketball and has produced many and excellent basketball players. Bennie is 46 years old and is known as an excellent recruiter.

Thinking about it it's hard to believe nobody floated his name as a possibility before. Would like to know what others think who are familiar with Seltzer as a coach but this would seem like a good fit at this point.

From a recruiting standpoint we would seem to lack someone with strong California ties but generally improved in terms of recruiting overall?

Don't know how he would fit as a coach. He certainly has the experience. The thing that always escapes me about Bennie is why he isn't in the hall. I submitted his name several years in a row. As far as I can tell they just ignored it. He was the catalyst for Kelvin's rise. He definitely deserves the honor. Maybe they're doing to him what they did to Puidokas. Waiting until he dies before they remember he was alive. Sorry for the rant, but Bennie was one of the best, and through some mighty tough times.

Bennie Seltzer would be a great addition to Kent s staff. His hiring would complete one piece of the puzzle. The other question is if there will be any more players added to the coug s roster ?

If we are able to hire Seltzer it's a dramatic makeover for the staff in a few months that could turn the corner for the program.

I remember his name being kicked arround as potential head coach in the past. He struggled as head coach at Samford this could be a good career rejuvenater for Setlzer and a great assistant hire for Kent. I for one, am on board 100 percent with this and hope it happens!!

Outstanding. Head coach in waiting? Bennie had a tough job at Samford as head coach but getting that experience of running an entire program may come in handy down the road if and when EK leaves. Hats off to Ernie for bringing in Seltzer and Haskins, even if it meant letting go two trusted friends/assistant coaches.

Glad Cougar

The coaching staff looks solid right now. One wonders if an additional player or two will be added to the team.

Glad these staff changes have been made even though they are overdue. Better late than never and hopefully sets us up well over the next few years.

Bennie has a good resume working for some great coaches and programs. Dominguez and Graham are very good basketball coaches, but they are not good recruiters. Having talent is more important than anything. I am guessing that Both Seltzer and Haskins are just as good of on the floor coaches and are going to be much better recruiters.

Having looked a little into Seltzer's experience at Samford, I am a bit puzzled. The team seemed to improve on the floor. That is not why Seltzer was let go. Over his two years there fourteen transfers occurred including five of the top six scorers during his second and last year. It was that turmoil- the team mutiny if you will- that did him in, not the record. Anybody know more about why this occurred?

I am curious as well. I understand that players that were recruited by the previous regime leave programs. But, it appears even some of his own recruits left.

Samford ranks well academically. Perhaps some of the recruits just couldn't cut the mustard? And college basketball players are among the most impatient student-athletes out there.

All I know is that Bennie was a solid PG and he has ton's of experience under very good Head Coaches. Solid floor coach and good recruiter with ties in many places.

WSU connection has to help in recruiting I would think. He came to Pullman from quite a different large southern city and did nothing but a great job for his four years.
