It's a quick read this time of year - since most of the articles are about gonzaga.
I hopped over and read Blanchette's piece. I didn't really think it was that bad at all - by his standards anyway. "Determination rather than desperation" sounds abut right. The exact opposite of what we are hearing from at least one poster over here.
Even Grippi is starting to look down his nose at WSU based on his take on the Smith hire.
Maybe they are on to something?.WSU tripled this dufus s salary and gave him 6 years.The "rockstar" ,Chun, more like curly in the Three Stoges is costing WSU 2.8 mil yearly for a mediocre mid level coach.

He does make good points in that Smith is risking more than WSU. Getting turned down by coaches at Montana and Boise State illustrates that. Also, the WSU coaching spot is currently a job in a Power 5 conference, but not with a Power 5 team. One other writer suggested that winning 6 PAC 12 games in three years would be a solid sign of progress. I am not encouraged or discouraged. I just no longer care...much like most everyone else.
Ah, the inevitable name calling has commenced for the new coach. Predictable and petty. You certainly don't sound like a Cougar fan. Is there any harm in wishing the guy well before he has even had a chance to coach the Cougars? Do you actually blame us other WSU fans and alumni for feeling better about the program's future? I don't really need an answer, just confused why it seems you have so much hate for WSU....whether it's the AD, the baseball program, Ken Bone, Luke Falk, etc...

The lead Coug reporter at the Spokesman-Review said this DID NOT HAPPEN.
Leon Rice's base salary at BSU is $675,000 per season.
Travis DeCuire's at UM is less than a third of Rice's.
Why in the world would Rice or DeCuire not take a massive raise at WSU — which just displayed its willingness to make sure a marginally successful coach was generously taken care on his departure — and have a chance to be a Hoops Hero?
Win at WSU and you're a highly thought of in Pullman forever — see Price, T. Bennett, Leach, etc.

I liked Coach Kent as much as the next guy, but what's done is done.
Why not jump on board and support CKS like the rest of Cougar Nation seems to be doing.
DeCuire's probably expecting to land in a "better" spot. I think Rice understands his limitations. Although they dipped this season he has a solid program in Boise. A bird in the hand so to speak. If he doesn't think he can win in Pullman I'm glad he's staying away. Still, I think if he was interviewed I'm not sure Chun would offer given his lack of confidence.
Think Travis knows that the job is not something that he can pull off with his superior recruiting skills. His ability to get staff that he needs is all part of it. Rice is just Rice and I wouldn't even offer him a job as he is on the hot seat at Boise.
Makes sense. However we got to Kyle Smith it's seems like a superior hire on paper over either of those 2 guys. Whether it works out only time will tell. If Boise were to move in another direction where does Rice end up? I don't know why anyone takes what Few has supposedly said as valid.
Grippi's take was illogical and not well thought out. Hard to believe, but Blanchette made more sense than Grippi.
