Walden wants Bob Gregory as the next DC. Pretty safe to bet against Leach being dumb enough to pick him.

He has been at the highest level . Had success as well. But not sure he will run the system wants to run.
BG is my college roommates brother in law. Really good dude. Not a bad pick but I think we can do better.
He's on the downside of his career, and hasn't been a coordinator for a decade. His days at UW are numbered. The only argument I can see got putting him on staff is his recruiting skill, but you have to wonder if he has the necessary fire in the belly to recruit to Pullman this late into his career.
I'm sure there will be openings on the staff after the season. Shaver is likely gone and I think at least one of the other coaches will go bye bye as well. If the D looks horrid in the bowl game might see a complete turnover on the defensive staff.
Why do you believe Shaver is gone ? Leach I think has fired(edited) three defensive coaches in his entire life. Why would Shaver be number 4

Well for starters you never said anything about defensive coaches. So, you’re starting off as a lying sack of poop on Christmas Eve Day. I’ll do 2/3 of the work for you- Breske and Russell. Name a third. I’ll even give you a hint- It’s in a book.
Why is that lying ? I am typing of a phone waiting in line for kids to get done with their pics . Didn’t realize as I typed it I forgot a key word and put in defensive coaches . And my info didn’t need to come from a book .
Nope. Speaking to someone in the dept. when Claeys left told me point blank Leach doesn't fire defensive coaches, that Claeys left on his own accord and the defensive side is left alone, and that Leach may have fired one defensive coach at Tech and Russell and Breske. So if you want a different "narrative" by all means. I think it is a good thing he has only canned three coaches and he isn't typically knee jerk and is more measured.
But if you want to think Shavers is gone by all means.
It’s sad that someone that is historically wrong as often as you lacks the ability to admit when he is wrong. Quite sad.

I am pretty sure Russell was the Special Teams coach that got fired after giving up back to back kick-off returns to Cal during a 60-59 loss at home. I don't remember if he was also a position coach.
Yes, Special Teams Coordinator. Also some position duty but I cannot recall what position. Back to back returns through the same section of the defensive front, after which Russell made the mistake of laughing about it. Canned on the spot. That game was a preview of our recent UCLA debacle.
