Cam Ward was spectacular

The only thing that slowed us down tonight was penalties and turnovers. Other than that he couldn’t be stopped.

Shout out to our receivers too. These guys catch EVERYTHING. it’s damn near impossible to throw for 70%+ partly because you are gonna have drops. I’m not sure I can recall one ball all year that has been dropped and should have been caught.

Certainly Ward’s best game. But he had a bonehead fumble, and snapping with 17 seconds left on the play clock was a freshman mistake. He also drives me nuts with his tendency to scramble backwards, but it worked. The offense disappeared for most of the 2nd half, especially the 4th quarter. That’s not all his fault but as QB he gets a share of it.

He’s still too inconsistent to be among my picks for the guy I want in there with the game on the line.

To me it looked like an OLM hit Ward from behind on the fumble. It also didn’t appear Ward was loose with the ball on the replay. At least not like we have seen. Not sure though.

The 2 fumbled were momentum killers. They really couldn’t stop us at that point.

Ward didn't play a perfect game, but it was by far his best game, and it was against a pretty good defense. I've been skeptical up until now, and I'm still far from putting him on QB Rushmore, but you have to tip the cap today. He played great, and so did his receivers, who were missing Lincoln Victor. Kelly played out of his mind.

Looking forward to the Arizona game in a few weeks when we get to compare and contrast Ward and DeLaura. Ward>>>>>>>>>> DeLaura and it’s not even close, plus he really seems to be a quality kid.

Bottom line with Ward. What a difference a year has been. He literally loves being coached up, listened to input, executed and made changes.

Second. You know what the best thing about Ward, besides his numbers? He's calm. Also, nothing gets to his head. No ego. Not cocky, and certainly not proud. He's calm, and humble.

Doesn’t matter how that game goes. I’ll take Ward over DeLaura on general principles. I don’t want a guy who should be in prison on my team. I don’t want a guy who quits on my team (BTW, sounds like he did it again yesterday- got behind and got an owie, the backup came in and won the game). I don’t want a cocky shithead who wants to be the focus on my team. DeLaura checks all those boxes.

Yep. He’s a true POS.

He got injured in the 4th Qtr yesterday as Arizona down 14-17 to Stanford.

Hot shot recruit Noah Fifita went in & proceeded to go 4-of-4 for 47yds engineering the game winning drive.

I’ve always felt if Zona was 3-3 going into our game, Jed might go to Noah Fifita to give them a spark. With UW & USC Next on their schedule, 3-3 is gonna happen.

Ward may be the only Power 5 QB that has yet to throw in interception through the first 4 games. Some of that is a bit of luck as a few possible INT's were dropped/misplayed, but even so his decision making has made great strides since last year.

That said, and I will applaud him for throwing away the ball after somehow escaping from that one deep sack attempt, he did make one long bonehead throw back into the middle of the field that luckily fell harmlessly to the turf. That one should have also been chucked out of bounds.

Pretty much any time there was a WR open his throws were perfectly on target, very fun to watch that!
