If he comes to WSU he is going to have to compete. Is he fine with that? No idea. With his stats and play off run he is probably fielding calls from all over the country.
He'll have to compete everywhere but it's hard to unseat an incumbent QB. Unless JDL is on the way out, I don't see why he'd head here.
He wants to play in the same system. He knows the coach. He knows what to expect. He knows what to do. This is why.
We're replacing a lot at receiver, wouldn't be surprised if a few of his friends follow him.

What is he making him change? Morris has been including the H Back and Tight End there the last few years.
Yea, he said they are going to have the H back in it. Morris had the H back in it at Ward. He's not changing the offense.
He said the new offense would be multiple. He didn't say we are running a version of the Air Raid.
“The first deal is it’s not the Air Raid,” Dickert said. “It’s gonna be more like Coug Raid -- we’re gonna do it our own way. We are gonna use H-backs, we’re gonna use some flex guys that can spread out and move, and do some different things … Air Raid pass principles but way more our version of what we want to be.”
He said it would be more of an NFL offense, that we'd run to set up the pass. Morris didn't use that at UIW. Not saying it won't be successful, but I don't think we've ever tried to run an offense similar to this.
Welcome to the age of the transfer portal, it is free agency on steroids, no team will really know what they have until about June or later, it is not just WSU, it is everyone, with all the coaching changes this year there will be a lot of portal activity. Coaching changes also create a lot of player movement, it happened with Leach, Rolo, and it will happen with this new staff. Just have to hope when the dust settles we keep the key players, recruiting this year is important, but so is retention, I am sure Dickert is communicating changes to his players, and they will make up their minds from there. This could be a whole new exciting offense, we have young creative coaches that have a plan, so I looking forward to seeing what they do.
I can envision a world where NIL contracts would stipulate that the kid play for the stated school and that leaving would be forfeiture or breach, which might sway some kids if the money was lucrative enough. Which of course mean that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, but maybe we can get Pizza Pipeline to throw in free pies for a year to sweeten a deal...
Yeah - lower level players are going to use their schools as farm teams to try and move up as they age.
We'll know who called him soon enough.
I mean, part of the blue blood recruiting mentality has to be "we'll hoard them all so the bottom feeders get none", right? Better a PWO at $C than schollie player at WSU, so they say?

Two examples in Seattle this year of DC head coaches who installed a "run the damn" ball offense to protect his defense which led to "punt the damn ball".
Normally, I'd say this likely has to do with the coaching change and offense switch, but Lara has "Air Raid" in his Twitter bio. Don't know how long it's been there.
The major fear with a defensive head coach is they use the offense to help the defense. Jimmy Lake was happy trying to win games 17-14. I'm hoping Dickert is comfortable trying to win games 49-45.
They are going to use lower level schools as community colleges that develop them for higher level schools
Based on the OC he hired, I think his interests lean more towards putting 49 pts on the board than 17.
