Cascade Clash

Haven't you heard, the Apple Cup is effectively dead unless we agree to an away only series.

UW / Oregon is a great rivalry, but what’s getting lost here is that they’re trying to make it their only rivalry. The reason the SEC, B!G and ACC (especially hoops) are such great fan conferences is because the teams have multiple rivalry games within a few hundred miles. UW is going to have Oregon……and then LA……and then nobody.

WSU must be looking forward to their upcoming rivalries with Utah State, Colorado State, and Wyoming.

I’ve been told to look for a new Apple Cup multi-year deal in Lumen Field that will:

- Pay both schools handsomely

- allow UW to hold 8 games in Seattle every other year

- scheduled each year over Labor Day weekend as part of a BIG -10/Big-12 Pre-season annual kickoff.

“B-b-but that implies…”

Yes it does.

who knows?

Assuming this happens, the WSU admin and entire BOR should be canned. I would be completely done. Helping UW out is a chickensh*t move.

Show some f***ing pride. The Seattle game sucks.

I dunno. What I also dunno is this supposed mandate that the schools (is this Big10 or the entire Power 5?) have to have 7 home games. Ok, so if you are in a year with 4 home league games, you have to schedule 3 teams who will do a one way. And who the hell will they be? Big sky x3?

Have you looked at the SEC OOC schedules? Might as well be playing high school teams...

it might have been either … Taylor Swift or Kim Kardasian. don’t remember

Who in the peanut 🥜 shells cares?

Also heard bor were spotted with Big smiles exiting a meeting. Probably bs, too.

Who knows? I am connected to no one. Just following all the ungrounded internet generated gossip, with interest, just like you ✅

Dont know about a mandate, uws ad stated that they need 7 home games for the money

I loved going to Wyoming. Do it again in a heart beat.

Same with San Diego State... Colorado State... Hawaii... UNLV...
The thing is, if you look at the Mtn West schools, they are a lot more like WSU that the traitors. Lotsa land grant, quite a few Tier one. Similar stadiums. Enrollment similar for most.

Face it, We were lucky to have been in the Pac for so long. And yeah we have held our own. But now the day has come.

And all those locales sound better to me than Cincinatti, Morgantown, or Kansas.

There have been lean years, but we have more than held our own. There were years of Paul Wulff, Paul Graham, Len Stevens, etc. There have also been a lot of HOF level coaches coming through Pullman over the years who have figured out how to win. Brayton, Chaplin, George, Sampson, Erickson, Price, Leach, Dick/Tony Bennett, Frederick. Now add Greeny, Ethridge to the list.

We punch way above our weight throughout the athletic department. Personally, I want to keep the ball rolling. Maybe we don't look like a Power 5, but we sure seem to figure out how to compete like one.

Not sure "the day has come" as much as the world was against us and forced it.

It will be even sweeter if we can get in and/or stay P5 to make the candy-ass big city boys suffer and Travel

Football commentators love to make up new rivalry games. Nebraska's rivalry went from Oklahoma (Big 8), then Colorado (Big 12) and now Iowa (Big 10).

Having said that, the Cascade rivalry is real in some sports. For example, the Seattle Sounders play for the Cascadia Cup between portscum timbers and vancouver white caps. It gets it's name from a movement that wants to unite Oregon, Washington and BC.

Real soccer is in Europe. MLS is just funny noise ;)

But agree, everything is manufactured by TV execs now (re: rivalries)

I suppose it wouldn’t be ok for ESPN to use something a little more fitting. The I-5 douche off. The northwest money grab. The border whore.
