Still hoping for significant improvement when Robert Franks gets healthy, but is the "magic number" $1.4M annually through the 2019-2020, 2020-2021 and 2021-22 seasons?

And that one.point.four includes no discounts Dr. Schultz or Mr. Chun can take advantage of to soften the blow?

If Coach Ernie can't get his program back to some kind of postseason tournament in the next couple years, then WSU's leadership may not have a choice.

Just hope this is no way impacts the completion of CML's Indoor Practice Facility.

What, pray tell, in the given record, indicates this program, with Ernie at the helm, is heading to a post-season in the foreseeable future? Even foreseeing to infinity I don't see it.

Can't buy him out. Board of Regents won't stand for $2.8M to $4.2 M for 900 people in the stands.

Moos f'd WSU over on this one. Not one but two middle fingers upward toward the sky. Don't even try to argue he didn't. Lazy hire, lazy contract. By the end of it all, Ernie Kent will have extracted almost $10 MILLION from the taxpayers of the state - and I say taxpayers because the department is in the red and requires subsidies from the university.

Not a single business person in their right mind would have entered into such an egregiously one-sided contract. Kickbacks anyone? And I say that with an entirely straight face. Money does strange things to people. Don't rule out the possibility.

Blah blah blah...saved cougar football....blah blah blah....no Mike Leach....blah blah blah...Whatever. John Johnson built the facilities. Dr. Floyd allowed the spending. A good project manager could have pulled off the suites and the football opns building. ..$10 MILLION down the drain.

For $10 MILLION I could buy 5 or 10 really nice suits, stand on the sidelines and scream MOVE! at players for 7 years. Unbelievable.

Moos killed Cougar basketball to club sport irrelevancy.

I get the frustration with the current state of WSU basketball, although we've been assured by Brand X and others that recruiting is on the uptick. Maybe there's a glimmer of light coming down the road?

The numbers are tough to ignore. Judging by his Pac-12 W's and L's, it's been one step forward, one step back during Coach Kent's tenure at WSU.
  • 2014-15 (7-11)
  • 2015-16 (1-17)
  • 2016-17 (6-12)
  • 2017-18 (4-14)
  • 2018-19 (0-3)
  • Overall in Pac-12 (18-57)
If you go back even further in his career, CEK had an overall losing conference record — both in 6 seasons at St. Mary's and 13 seasons at Oregon. It's not like either of those places haven't been successful now that he's moved on to Pullman.

At this juncture, CEK probably needs to get it going soon just to keep despair from creeping into the fanbase.

But he'll be 64 next week and 67 when his contract expires after the 2021-22 season (assuming Mr. Chun doesn't cut the cord add any additional years).

How much energy does Ernie have left to continue a rebuilding job?

Here's where we'll agree to disagree.

Cougar Football >>>>> All other WSU sports combined.

Bill Moos — not Dr. Floyd or John Johnson or Pres. Schultz or Rob Chun or Jim Sterk or Jim Walden or anyone else — convinced CML to leave sunny Key West for Pullman.

Don't you think that's worth a lot more than however much Mr. Moos may have overpaid to resurrect the career of a two-time Elite 8 coach?

Nope. He's the ATHLETIC DIRECTOR. Moos hired Leach. Big deal. Leach was unemployed and just rejected by Maryland. Lots of people could have closed that deal. Not all that impressed, to be quite honest.

Mike Leach saved Cougar Football. Period. End of Story.

An adequate administrator could have done the rest. AND not entered into CEK's never ending loser annuity.

His name is Patrick Chun by the way.

Or did gagging on Moos' sperm cause you to mistype?

Come on some civility in our posts. This one should be deleted and i have never said that before.Hell there is life beyond sports

It is your call Observer on what you want to post on a board. I do not find your post enlightening ,informative and certainly not classy

That might matter if I actually cared what you consider 'classy'.

I don't find hanging one's alma mater with $100M and a burned out retread coach all that 'classy' especially after pocketing big coin while essentially calling the donor base losers...and then not writing a check himself to back up his BS.

So, yeah. I'm ok with where I stand on 'classy'.

I don't usually use the quote if I'm posting two successive replies rather than edit the original post.

Reminds me of your posts against the Bone. Your guy is on the road to gone, get used to it.

Just to re-iterate, I used to see Bone at AAU Showcase events in the Northwest all the time.

In fact, talked to him many times. He called me several times when he was at Montana. I'm special, i guess. I also had a 6'8"kid, a 6'9" kid and a 6'6" freshman with arms as long as his legs. I also had the 5'4" kid who just dropped 71 points in an NAIA game after 31 and 39 against the D-1 Portland schools.

I talked to Ernie once. In the hot dog line at the 3A/4A state tournament. Told him to call me about a then sophomore prospect. He never did. He ended up averaging 25 PPG+ in the state tourney last year and is now parked in Arizona at a JC getting his grades in order. He'll end up at Boise State.

I guess you and Bone are some kind of buddies.? I guess when one s privileged access is cut off and one s opinions and words are no longer valued then on is left to his own device?

I fully disclosed I was special in the post.

Apparently Bone recognized that and did his job recruiting. He and I would have no specific purpose for interacting thereafter.

Otherwise, have never met the man.

In fact, have actually interacted personally with Ernie on more than one occasion. He is nice guy. That doesn't change the fact he's a horrible coach at WSU.

Nah, never have met Ken Bone, but you are clearly one of the ole' boys.
