Even if Cristobal stays, Oregon needs an OC. Kelly could fill that spot for a year or two to serve his penance before he gets another HC gig.

Great recruiter but mediocre coach at best. Can't understand why he's in the middle of a bidding war between UO and Miami. If I'm a Duck fan, I'd be thrilled to have the Canes take him away. Shades of Willie Taggart situation and I wouldn't be surprised if Mario flopped at the U the way Taggart flamed out at Florida State.
Also, it was rumored on the Duck board that part of Joe Morehead's decision to leave for Akron was that he really didn't have the freedom he wanted as OC. Cristobal tends to micromanage the offense anyway. He's the head coach, so he has that right....but Mario wants to play power ball, which tends to stifle the QB position. Cristobal probably kept Justin Herbert from reaching his considerable potential while at UO.

It's reported that Cristobal has until noon tomorrow to accept the Miami offer. I'm sure he's waiting to see how high UO will go to keep him around.

If Im Manny Diaz I wait until Cristobal stays at Oregon and then give a lot of thought to resigning after the bowl game. Miami has every intention of screwing him.
Diaz quitting is Gary Andersen stupid.
Even Doba got paid for the 2009 season which he had zero intentions of ever coaching.
On Sunday the work of the past few weeks paid dividends as Cristobal and several of his assistants will be joining the University of Miami, per a source close to the situation.
