Next challenge is scoring, something the Cougs have never done. In the 50, she is the number 28 seed, and probably needs to cut .16 from her PR to have a chance -- the top 16 score. Normally, that would be considered a tall order, but this young lady dropped her PR by more than 4 tenths at the Pac-12 meet, which is unheard of in a race that short, and was only the number 9 seed going into the Pac-12 prelims. In the 100, she's the 38 seed and needs to drop her time by .60+, but she dropped her PR by .89 at Pac-12s to win the consolation final, in a time that would have been good enough for 5th in the championship final, .01 off 4th. So who the hell knows? She could have "shot her wad" at Pac-12, or she has a new normal. Based on the fact that she appeared "less than happy," despite a big PR in the 100 consolation final, I got the sense she felt she left something in the pool. We'll see!
