He's making a lot of noise about finding a guy that will give the program a proper identity. That's a positive
Pat Chun s record on hiring a basketball coach is not good . At FAU he hired Michael Curry who amassed a 39-84 record before being fired last year.. As far as making good basketball decisions and hiring coaches it looks like he has trouble finding his own arse in a dark bathroom .I hope he listens to people who know what they are doing.It is funny to listen to the guy who acts like he knows what he is doing.

I am saying that Chun is like someone trying to learn to ice skate for the first time. He is bumbling toward the finish line and needs someone who knows what they are doing to right this clumsy affair.It has cost WSU a huge chunk of money and the next coach will cost the cougs over 2.8 million yearly over the next three years. He better make the right decision. I am not comfortable in letting the bumbling idiot make the right choice by himself.
You are horribly naive if you think Chun made the decision to can Ernie by himself. Expending that kind of jack is above his authority limit.
Just because No-Donation Bill had an open credit line, doesn't mean Chun does. There's a clearly defined pecking order in handling finances with Sherriff Schultz in town. They made the cost/benefit analysis of keeping No-Coach Ernie Kent around and made a business decision. Keeping him around was going to continue to negatively aspect the university.
And thank god for that.
Aside from the fact that you don't like that he fired Kent, what has he done or not done in the coaching search so far that indicates "he's bumbling toward the finish line" or that this has been "a clumsy affair"? It has been less than a week since EK was let go, many of the potential targets probably still have teams that are playing in post season tournaments, and there is absolutely no factual information on who he may be looking at or talking to....only internet speculation and rumors. Chun has hired a search firm to help in the process, so he's not doing things by himself (like Moos did). So let's talk specifics, what is it that makes you uncomfortable with the process so far, aside from the initial decision to make a change?

The Cougars were not greatly talented this past year but I agree with Chun that they had the talent to win more games than they did. Of course, having his team play below it's talent level has long been Ernie Kent's history.

I not only put ElC on ignore (and am now much happier for having done so), but, before I did so, I reported him for his defaming smear of Chun. By the way, it was the first time I had ever done either of those things to anybody on this board.

I have never laughed so hard. When it comes to slamming people do we have to look further than Mr observer s comments on Bill Moos almost nonstop as well as others. If defaming him by calling him a harmless nickname or saying he is incompetent good luck fellows. I probably lost count on about 40 on your negative comments on Moos. Whatever you say about Moos he is responsible for WSU s continued presence in the PAC 12 . My comments on Chun are for his recent fiscally irresponsible actions and a lack of basketball knowledge which has led to a precipice which he may fall over. You are the crazy old coot who was probably tossed out of your privileged status under the old regimes by Moos. I had forgotten about that old recalcitrant group of codgers..
