For the rest, I can't think of any other previous head coach, including CML, who is or was a better promoter, salesman, representative, huckster, hustler, and overall advocate for high school recruits or JV transfers on playing football for Washington State?

I turned it off when he started in about how great the offense was gonna be…. just like last year…. now he is shitting on Morris cause Ward is gonna be doing what he is good at and sooo much better. After 32 career starts he should be!

Agreed. Purely genuine as well. No weird Brian Kelly trying to dance with players crap. Dickert wants to be here, build the program, sets a high bar for competition, and the team responds- Kicks the crap out of lesser competition and punches the conference bullies in the mouth.
I’m cautiously optimistic about this season. Could end up being pretty special IMO.

Play 14 games you are gonna have a Stinker on both sides of the ball, guaranteed. Zero chance to match up with the injury. Same way we couldn’t get pressure against Oregon. Almost nobody could. -even with that epic Stinker averaged in, top 1/3 of the conference in defense. Points allowed, turnovers, sacks.
-Dickerts been here one full season. Winning record, 1-1 in ACs, spanked every team we should have beat, and competed hard against the conference bullies…UW, USC, Utah, OR. Not much to dislike for a new coach honestly.
-Did you watch any of the spring game? Offense is going to look a lot different, pick up big chunks, and score a lot. Ward is going to be a different QB. Yes, I’ll remind you of this in a couple of months.

Spring game was rigged. Take the two best defensive players off the field, also the two best pass rushers, then go on and on about the offense? gtfo. Think Wisconsin will take their beat two defensive players off the field too?
Competed hard against uw and Oregon? Uh no. He was embarrassingly outcoached.
Both those games were matchup disasters on defense. Didn’t have the secondary to slow down UW, and had no chance to get pressure on Oregon…most teams didn’t they had one of the best OLines in CFB. Still had Oregon on the ropes. They were certainly out coached the last offensive series. That was on Morris. He’s gone.
You crack me up . I know a coach who had an Outland trophy winner, two speed rushers , four nfl guys in the secondary not to mention Jeremy Williams and they gave up 440 on the ground. . Read that again 440 on the ground .

Do you dispute my information. ? The team on average gave up 150 yards a game . Played a game that was for the rose bowl or a chance for ten rose bowl and the dc crapped the bed . So some DC are allowed to have a bad game … I get it

I’m not buying that. Both of those games were competitive for 3 quarters. For that long, we matched up well enough to be in the game. We had a 12 point lead against oregon with 6 minutes left. We were down 2 to UW at the start of the 4th.
And then we collapsed defensively and disappeared offensively. It wasn’t a matchup issue, it was not identifying what the opponent was likely to do and countering it.
Oregon went up and down the field all game. We bowed up in the red zone somehow, but could get no pressure on them despite sending every blitz in the playbook. It wasn’t a collapse in the last 6 minutes it was an inevitability if we couldn’t get a first down to seal it. I could see that ending coming from a mile away. They were the better team.
Penix put on a clinic and it was pretty apparent early on having the leader of the DBs out was going to be problematic. The offense put up a good fight and kept it a game yes, but UW didn’t have the same matchup problems defensively that we did and we’re able to make enough adjustments ti get a few stops. Both those games were won by the clearly better teams, a different set of coaches on WSUs sideline wouldn’t have made a lick of difference. I’d argue the UO game would have been a lot worse with your household name retread that Biggs is so intent on replacing Dickert with.
For all of the bitching about the loss to UW, we lost to the Huskies by 18 in Leach's last season. When we talk about comparing Leach and Dickert, people seem to have amnesia that in 2019, we managed to lose to a mediocre Cal team that was on a four game losing streak and had just been pummeled 35-0 by Utah. If we take care of business, they would have been 4-6 on the road at Stanford. Do they lose that game instead of winning by two if they are on a six game losing streak?
We have yet to lose to a team with worse than a 9-4 record with CJD running the show and I think that we knock off Cal with a more focus, energized CJD rather than Leach. Now, Leach was mentally checked out at that point and was obviously not doing his best work, but given that both of our last two seasons have been better than Leach's final effort, maybe it's best to let Dickert do his job without a bunch of assumptions until he's actually done worse than Leach?
Many of the same people bagging on Dickert were giving Leach rope when we finished 3-9 in 2014. Last time I checked, Dickert is one of only three WSU coaches to get to bowl games two years in a row. For all of the whining by Biggs and others, as long as we make it to bowl games....Dickert is going to be our coach. He's doing a great job of selling the hand he's been dealt and as long as we are making bowl games and continue to suck at supporting our team, that's all we can ask for.

I watched the Apple Cup from last year and the game was a lot closer than what we probably remember.
They just happened to have probably the best QB to ever wear that stupid uniform.
Maybe this year we'll not get in a shootout with them and do what we can to keep Penix on the sidelines.

Man, Leach seemed like he had 5 of these games against Cal! I Remember that one where Falk was aweful and got benched - think we lost 37-3. Wilcox had his number.
Dickert will have a few of those too if he’s here 8 years. So far gotta be impressed with the taking care of business mentality of this team. Stepping on throats too!
This whole thread is annoying me. F what happened last year or during the Leach years. Who cares? Not me. We have a new season what - 50 days away? Let's focus on that. As I've said, I might road trip to the CSU game in my truck camper. Never been to Fort Collins, although I was born in Colorado Springs. Might just wander down there post game and see if the the old Chevy can make the climb up Pikes Peak.
