Classes start tomorrow, no interim head coach named

At this point, there’s not a ton of need for HC related matters, but conditioning is probably the main thing. Chun made it sound like in his presser, he would be active and address the team. Also probably hurts the guys who would be first choice interims are mostly going with Leach. I would bet they know who they are gonna hire already at this point and it’s a matter of details.
meaning we wiffed on our main targets, and have to take more time to find someone else, thus the need of an interim.
The assistants are all scrambling to get jobs if Leach isn’t taking them to MSU. I believe there is a big coaches convention centered around the CFB championship game so there may be no one left for the interim gig on Monday.
Conditioning is run by the strength coaches I believe. I don’t think actual FB coaches can even be present (could be wrong, but that’s what I thought). If thats the case considering signing day has passed, a couple of weeks probably isn’t going to change anything.
Dead period ends on the 16th. So, there is the matter of recruiting, and it appears Leach is taking Emerick with him.
So, if we hear that an interim coach is appointed, it probably means the search is going through next weekend at least.
At this point, it makes more sense for Chun to assume that role. Just shoot straight with the players and let them know what’s going on. Stress the importance of going to class, lifting, and the training table.
Let's really make history- Brittany Thackery for interim HC. I have to believe that would be the first female head football coach at the power 5 level.
