Connor Halliday un-retired

Tried to link it but there's a story at spokesman.com
It would be interesting to hear the backstory.Maybe he was shell shocked what happened to him last year where he broke his leg with an inexperienced center and didn't want to be subjected to that in DC.

Or quite possibly he realized you are only 22 once and have the ability to fling the ball and it is a small window.

Did you see what Leach had to say?

(from Scott Hood)

Leach on former Cougars quarterback Connor Halliday trying out with the Kansas City Chiefs this week: "He throws the ball better than nearly anybody, including guys in that league. Hopefully, he will get a chance. Andy Reid is a great offensive mind." Halliday went undrafted in late April and signed a free agent contract with the Washington Redskins. However, he "retired" from football prior to the start of mini-camp. Right now, the Chiefs have three active quarterbacks on the roster - Alex Smith, Chase Daniel and Aaron Murray - along with the injured Tyler Bray.

I wish him the best but he's put himself in a bad spot by leaving the Redskins. If I were coach, even if he practices well, he would have to prove that he's not a quitter based on the mystery of his departure from Washington.

Of course, there could be a very good explanation on Connor's part that is better left unsaid for the sake of the big picture. I can't envision that explanation, but it might be out there.

The fact that Gruden/ Redskins left RGIII out there the other night, for him to get relentlessly pummelled, might have something to do with it.

The Washington Racist suck, top to bottom, plain and simple.

I wish Connor the best and hope he is successful in this pursuit. He did however connect with another NFL team that has a reputation for a leaky offensive line. I doubt it will matter too much this year though , because he will probably not get near the field during a real game.

.

Maybe he was not a mentally calm person and couldn't handle the pressure of competing for the Redskins organization and decided to wait out till he was free from them before some dog crap Paul Wulff asked him to come play for Team USA, and then when he saw the nightmare horror of that ....he ran to the Chiefs whose coach drafted Air Raid QB Nick Foles from Arizona at the Eagles and probably has a relationship with people from that system which is a better fit to the alternative of taking another snap for dog crap Paul Wulff and his crapshow or the Redskins and their organization problems.

Ah... Paul Wulff...Again.

Oh yes...When you post your passive aggressive douchebag crap on here I will be sure to remind you. That the center that was on the job was sam flor who committed 9/5/2011 under Paul Wulff.

So if you want to include under your complete "Maybe he was" speculative crap...

"That maybe he was shell shocked from what happened last year where he broke his leg with a lineman that was recruited by Paul Wulff that didn't have any offers making a start at center because the starter was banged up and now has been passed up on the depth chart at center; and didn't want to be subjected to the remote possibility that a Paul Wulff eye for talent might be blocking for him"

That would at least be accurate in your fantasy passive aggressive world.

And coached by the current staff. Leach could have gone out and got someone better, correct? He chose not to, why not? Why didn't he recruit someone other than he and Denzel Dotson?

Since neither of them are anywhere near this year's depth chart, I'd say he did, no?

Leach was only on the job for two months. He did recruit better but it was in 2013. He took Carlos Freeman. who was a RS Fresh, but it takes a while to develop. In 2012 Middleton is the only one who made it with the walk ons Dahl and Eklund.

Madison was 2013, Sorenson the starter was 2013. The Wulff stench was still was around but now we are finally getting rid of it, and no surprise when put into situations Wulff stench found a way to do damage. Whether it was Tracy Clark starting at corner on the first Rutgers play....or Flor letting someone break Halliday's leg.

Riley Sorenson, dolt. Btw, Dotson, as with Flor, originally committed to Wulff in September 2011. Lay off the booze. And if your argument is that Leach et al coached them, it is one within the same breath you'll bark like a poodle over the contention that the success of Deone Bucannon and Xavier Cooper is due to the current staff's efforts.
You hailed the recuiting of 7 high school linemen in four years (three of whom FTQ) as doing it the right way. But now you're critical of a coach who nearly tripled that number in just four years.

Hey Cougatron., I turned a recruit and his Dad onto this website/forum . I'll let you know how it goes.

is this like when you were posting on the husky forum ranting about Obama and then saying on here we should get Michelle Obama?
Or when you said our AD was Bill Moose?
Or when you lied about us being last in Pac-12 recruiting?
Or any of your other pathological lies?

Any recruit that reads this board will know that if Leach recruited him then he is probably really good.
Any parent that reads this will know that if their son comes to WSU they will more than likely graduate as our graduation rate is close to the top 25% and our APR (academic progress rate) rate is close to Stanford.

So not only are they a good player, but they will more than likely earn a degree from a top University.

They also will have to put up with trash like yourself chinook, and Ed, and Sponge who basically are a few idiots who work to undermine our progress because they want WSU to do poorly, but fortunately we have a great coach and AD and are building a foundation for success so their worthless attempts are as meaningless as their pathetic lives.

He may have just pulled the trigger too soon and discovered after arrival in WASH it just wasn't a good fit. "retiring' may have been the easiest way out

He should have originally signed with the Hawks. Get him to go the route of Tuel and get acclimated to the NFL that way.

That particular QB situation looks to be a tough one to crack, especially having missed training camp, but good that he got in- I'd still think CFL is most likely, at least for this year. We'll see in a few weeks- they can't fill practice squad spots until the season.

Don't worry, torn. I let them in that you're an outside Leach PR troll who has chosen the mission of trashing the entire history of WSU, WSU football, alumni and supporters at all costs to elevate Leach... then showed them both the last twenty or so of your posts.

They understand.

They don't like it, they think it's underhanded and sleazy but, they do understand.

Huh? The Hawks weren't signing rookie FA QB's this year. And Halliday doesn't fit into their offense. I thought he'd fit best in ATL or NO with an indoor team and a spread offense that plays fast. He's basically a poor man's Matty Ice anyways.

Why do you think he is a spread offense sort of a guy. He is a pocket passer, and the aid of a run game where he makes a few dynamic throws a game would be perfect. Halliday probably was a better fit in what Stanford did.

The reason Seattle is cause they need an arm in practice. If he spins the ball like he is capable he gets a better shot at other squads. Showcase if you will.

Hmmm...pathetic life? Really? Please explain that one.

Ed, are we talking about the same Halliday? The 'Bleep it, go deep' 'never saw a pass opportunity he didn't like' Halliday? If you are talking about practice time and showing others what he is capable of, then O.K. But he fits Seattle's offense about as well as I do and I suck. Hope he takes this opportunity to heart and does well but he is better suited in another franchise than Seattle. There might be a team less fitting for him than Seattle but none come to mind.

Kayak...It is a good training ground. While he is reckless, he would be well served here he passes the ball 25 times a game and has a great running game. He is in the truest sense a pocket passer. Once he is forced to move his feet that is when there is trouble.

It would be a good spot to showcase what he has and learn a more conservative offense.

Don't think his skill set matches the offense, don't think him behind that offensive line (or its second or third string) is a recipe for success. I wouldn't be shocked if the result of the awkwardness in Washington was that Halliday had to go spend a year in Canada if he genuinely wants to pursue being a pro.

What is his skill set that you see? I see a guy deep in the pocket that would benefit a great deal from play action. And no, he would never play a down with Seattle, but it would give him a chance to learn a more conventional offense.
