.. by 11 pts over Montana State (3-6). Take the cougs in this one. Also NMSU lost 63-60to Kansas on the road. I thought that the aggies should have won it.

A couple of thoughts. First, I like watching this team. Franks and Elleby alone are worth the price of admission. 2nd, the increase in team speed is notable from prior years. Ali, Elleby and even Robinson can really push up court in transition.

Finally, a couple of thoughts about defense. The rules and structure of the modern game favor offense over defense. 90% of field goals by any team can make the defense look bad. Unless you have an absolutely dominating post defender you have to pick your poison. The same guys who scream about Kents defense being a "lay in drill" for the other team would be screaming just as loud about too many un contested 3s if they packed the defense to protect the paint. What I see our defense doing is putting a lot of pressure on the perimeter trying to create turnovers or bad decisions. The risk being guys occasionally blow by a defender.

I dont think it is possible too "defend yourself" to a post season with the continued evolution of the 3 point game. I want us to win as much as anyone, and if the best way to do it was trying to hold opponents to 60 points or less that would be fine with me. The fact is the only teams that is possible against are the same teams that you can hang 90 on, even if you you give them 70 in the process. I look forward to another offensive outburst on our part again today.

Not sure that Tony would agree. For certain Dick would not.

I haven't followed how Tonys defense has evolved over the past few years. I know teams with multiple good 3 point shooters that were willing to play with patience gave Dick the most trouble.

Also, I didnt mean to say the evolution of the 3 point game implies that teams should just play a matador defense. My point is that good defense may result in more seemigly easy looking baskets than we might have found acceptable in the past. Good defenses are giving up 75-80 points a lot more often than we saw in the padt Certainly not excusing our horrid transition D in the CSN game.

Tony's defense has "evolved" into continually leading the country in numerous defensive metrics while also continually being ranked in the top ten.

Can we please stop talking about how athletic this team is!!! Ali has slightly above average speed but that’s it, he is not playing well at all, needs to sit. Elleby was the only true bright spot tonight, which I think is going to be the case most nights. The PAC 12 is going to eat this team alive. We might be better than CAL... only because of Franks And Elleby.
