Cougs get their tight end

Good news, but we need probably 3 TE's this year since there are none on the roster. Another HS and a transfer would be my guess.

Andre Dollar from Mustang Oklahoma has chosen the Cougars after being a previous 4-star verbal to Oregon. He might end up being the gem of the class. Congrats to Coach Dickert and Coach Morris!

Duck verbal flips to WSU
But it's a waste of one of the now 32 schollies, instead of the used to be 25(25+7 transfers=32), to get a 4 star, FOUR STAR TE, that had offers from Michigan, etc, that can either use as a TE, or a H back, Big WR, Big RB, DE, Middle LB, that 6-6 230 STUD, that can put on more good type of weight, at least according to 1 poster(not me)

And it's not good that Dickert/Morris/WSU BEAT OUT michigan, etc, and that that is a good sign of future recruiting.

AWESOME GET.

I would guess that this TE, plus 1 more, either a JC, Grad Transfer, Transfer Portal TE, and a convert a DE, Middle LB, OL, BIG WR, etc, into a TE, is probably enough.

And if it's not enough, then wait to implement the TE, and temporary go with 4 WR, etc, until it is enough, even if that were be the next year, after this year, instead of this coming season.

Tho I disagree with Biggs that taking a TE is NOT a waste of scholly, it's not good to take 3,4 TE in a class, even if it's just, only this class, to have enough TE for this coming season, it's not ok to take 3,4 TE in a class, etc.

At most you take 1 HS TE, then get a 1 Transfer/JC TE, then convert a DE, LB, etc, into a TE, in 1 recruiting class, 1 season.

You don't get 3,4 TE in a season, even if it's only 1 time, at the beginning to implement a TE 1st this coming season.

If that isn't enough for this coming season, then you either delay implementing a TE, this coming season, or go without a TE this coming season, and wait until the season after this coming season to implement a TE.

Wtf are you talking about? Leave me out of your insane ramblings.

Plenty of roster spots need to be allocated to TE this year. I'd say you want at least 5 TE's on the roster. Since we currently have zero it'll be an investment in year one.

I'm not a fan of TE's personally. I think the position is a relic of an era where players were bigger and slower. You are talking about adding a player who is too slow or doesn't have the hands to play WR combined with blocking skills below your OL. I just can't get excited about that.

Situationally, it's interesting in RedZone, short yardage situations. It's just not a base offense. But if you have them, you need a room full of them because of 1) injuries and 2) the ability to put up to 3 of them on the field for jumbo packages in short yardage situations.

So maybe we convert a DE, but we will want at least 2 HSers, plus a JC guy and probably a grad transfer. This ensures the offensive packages we worked on don't fall apart because the one TE we recruited rolled an ankle and we no longer have the bodies to run the plays we've worked on all off-season.

Not a fan of TE's but we if we are going to use them, you gotta commit to making it work. And no complaints from the TE lovers about how we don't have depth at various positions. It's the price you pay for doing things this way.
