Quick personal story of how things have changed. Living in a smaller (< 30,000 people) community in South Dakota, I wore one of my WSU Cougar sweatshirts with pride the other day while picking up some groceries in the local, family-owned store. The checker, a guy in his early 20s, noticed and said, "Wow, your Cougars are really playing well. #8 right now, huh?" He mentioned the season that Minshew was having (easily knew his name) and also remarked about the fun Game Day in Pullman. Turns out he's a big Ohio State fan. We both agreed it would be nice to play each other in the Rose Bowl this year if both teams don't get into the playoffs. Before the season, nobody in this town would notice my sweatshirt or even recognize what school the logo and name "Cougars" represented.

We are definitely on the map, Cougar fans!

Now if you can paint a big "GO COUGS!" or hang a Coug Flag on one of those Wall Drug signs along the highway....that would be something.

I recently read that the owners of Wall Drug actually don't pay the land owner's any fees for their billboards, but they have offered. I read that they just send gifts and candy as a way of saying thanks. Is that still true today? All those signs and billboards are rent free?

Wall Drug may be a challenge, but maybe I can plant a flag on the Corn Palace in Mitchell. Now if I was really worth my salt, I could arrange to have Mike Leach's face chiseled into the granite at Mt. Rushmore.
