I’m looking at Donovan Ollie with a corner pressing him with no other DB in sight. Was it never a consideration to throw him the ball on first, second or third down? Are our outside receivers not able to get open 1 on 1?

The way Oregon’s moving the ball at that point and how much time is left you’ve basically got two options - run your regular aggressive offense ahead by 5 and string some first downs together and perhaps a game clinching score …OR run your regular aggressive offense down by 3 with a minute left. Everyone in the stadium knew if we went 3 and out there we were going to need another scoring drive. We should have stayed aggressive and played to win…when you play not to lose you usually do.

After we went into prevent defense AND prevent offense, they obviously score right away after chunk yardage, we get the ball back, and we draw on 1st. The ultimate give-up play, and it's on first down. They also got to him almost concurrent with the handoff for a 3-yard loss. Then we stop the clock twice by throwing it? Either commit to burning clock by running all 3 downs, or put the pedal to the metal, but we called the worst possible sequence of events.

Got real strong Falcons/Patriots Super Bowl vibes from this one. Totally ignoring what got you to this point, forgetting the basics, and thinking you can actually ice the conference power, up a score and a half, in a 2-3 possession game.
