Cougs vs Cats prediction thread

Rodman goes for a double-double as the Cougs pull the upset 68-63
I already did my prediction and corrupt Arizona is as good as advertised. Their defense is really tough and they have so many weapons on offense.

I've liked our scrappiness and we are playing really hard. Would be nice to hit some shots, eh?

Other than that, great teams have many players who can create their own shot off the dribble. We don't have that.

I don't have any complaints with the way they played. I wish they could figure out how to fix the dry spells. Without the 7 minute drought in the first half they'd have been neck and neck with Arizona. They actually outscored them by 1 in the 2nd half. It was good to see Noah hit a couple of threes. Hopefully that'll get him out of his slump. Biggest concern I have coming out of the game is Gueye. I'm afraid he's going to be out for a while. Looked like a nasty sprain. Hopefully Dishon will be back soon. At least he's not wearing those dark glasses any longer.

There is a lot of credit being thrown Zona's way for that dry spell, and rightfully so, but these dry spells aren't something new that happened just tonight - they almost define Cougar basketball of the recent past.

Nobody really get “easy” looks to help stop runs. Lots of searching for shots. Flowers at times and Roberts on occasion. Efe was good in the 2nd half but he has to work for his looks.

I was really hoping Jackson could give us that this year but he struggled a bit early and then the injuries. Hoping Bamba could bull his way for shots at the rim as well but not there yet and he’s fallen for the 3.

That's been my take as well. We're missing a goto, can get his own shot whenever he wants guy. If we can retain Gueye and Efe, and they're able to stay healthy, I can see both of them developing into a really tough to deal with combination, but a wing who is able to knock down 3s and finish at the rim would make us an NCAA team next season.

We also don't get to the line as much as other teams. Not surprising given how many 3s we attempt but last night we only had 3 free throw attempts all by Efe. Only Cal and ASU get to the line less.

Need a 6-6 power finisher for sure. Suspect that they are very hard to recruit. Don Collins comes to mind :)

You'd think Bamba could do that. 6'5" built like a linebacker but doesn't seem to be able to finish well.

You would think so, but for all the grief that Noah seems to get his statline is usually better than Bamba's by far.

Bamba 1 for 6 and 0 for 2; 5 boards in 24 minutes and 2 points
Noah 4 for 10 and 2 for 5; 2 boards in 19 minutes and 10 points
Jaki 0-2 3 boards and 0 points

And we know that Noah is not close to 100%

If, when WSU wins 4,5,6 more games, for 18,19,20 wins, 11-9, 12-8, 13-7 in conference, Tied for 4th, to Alone in 5th, in conference, win 1 Pac 12 tourney game, for 19,20,21 wins, there is about a 49% to 93% chance depending on what end of the range, scale of that finish range that finish, of going to the NCAA Tourny THIS SEASON.

And next season since probably only Flowers leaves, or only deep back ups, etc, leave, etc, WSU PROBABLY SHOULD do even better next season
