Daiyan Henley

The best player on the #1 scoring defense in the conference, that about sums it up. Fields, Childs and Hayes were great players, but they had the luxury of playing behind two NFL calibre DTs, the best DE in school history and the most highly regarded JC transfer in school history at the other. Suffice is to say, seldom did they have to defeat the down field blocks of OLs in pursuit.

Umm Henly being behind BRENNAN JACKSON, RON STONE, NASANI, PULE, IS NOT CHOPPED LIVER, NOTHING TO SNIDE AT.

Not saying that Henly isn't awesome. He is awesome.

But if he was NOT behind Stone, Jackson, Pule, Nasani, while he would still be awesome, would have a harder time.

And while Stone, Jackson, Pule, Nasani, as a DL isn't the NFL Line that Fields had, YET, they are still PRETTY DAMN GOOD.

Lee Blakeney would like a word, please.

524 tackles is a record that will never be broken! 131 tackles per yard, on average, for 4 straight years. The current leading tackler in the conference has only 105 through 11 games. When you look up "old school" there is a picture of Lee!

Other than Henley no superstars, just solid at every position and great 11 to the ball, fundamental do your assignment team defense. Feeling like this will be the norm with Dickert.

And during his time most teams were running fewer plays.

Google search of “Lee Blakeney WSU Football” yields a handful of really good articles. I was unaware of this COUG legend. Thank you for enlightening me!
