First (far out) speculation off Twitter followers: Grant Duff and Matty Ah You. I don’t even know what defense Weber St Runs but, these are west coast guys that fit the profile.

My leaders in the clubhouse would be Jimmy Rogers. DC/LB coach at South Dakota State- coached w Dickert
Freddie Banks- DC at Colorado St-played under Dickert for 3 years at NDST.

Banks is an excellent recruiter. Problem is he has only been a DB coach. Dickert likes Brown and Malone.

Too bad we can''t talk Weber State's HC to become a P5 defensive coordinator. Jay Hill spent several years coaching defense at Utah and has had a great record at Weber State as a head coach. He's veteran enough to have a lot of connections and was highly regarded as a recruiter for Whittingham. I'm surprised he hasn't been hired as a head guy at the FBS level yet. I doubt there's enough $$$ in the WSU budget to pry Hill away for a coordinator position, but it's a nice thought.

Based off Atuaia’s Twitter it seems like we just hired some Poly/Samoan someone. Unless he’s incredibly hyped for a recruit. But Dickert did say today he was doing zoom calls with coaches and Mark said Dickert called to give him news. So probably OC side?

Maybe we're bringing in Ken Niumatalolo and going triple option?

I was thinking recruit, but we will see.

Robert Anae? Apparently hired by NC State yesterday...I guess I have no guesses.

Just speculating....but probably someone from Atuai Virginia staff. Maybe Vic So'oto. Ends coach at Cal. Has coached at USC, UV and BYU. We shall see.

He left for somewhere else. Weber State is hiring a new HC.

I'll be damned. That must have happened fairly recently. He's the new DC and associate head coach at BYU. Hill would've been a great hire at WSU. Probably wasn't ever going to leave the State of Utah.

Not if he’s mormon.

Triple option would kill it in the "no longer Pac-12"

Would be fun to watch, too, as the Cougs won games with precise execution a la the Military Academies or even Wake Forest with its slow mesh scheme.

Quarterback CW could fill a Ricky Turner type role if he embraced the change.

Would Schultzie and Chun sign off since “option football” might make it harder to fill Martin Stadium on a consistent basis?

Not sure some of the Millenialls and Gen Z’ers would embrace 15 straight running plays.

They would if it was the Oregon Chip Kelly era type.

A huge part of the problem is college = doorway to the NFL. If you don't get NFL level athleticism... you can't run things as well.

If you can't make $$$... the NFL doesn't want it.

Say what you want, but if you had 5 true beast Offensive linemen with the right TE's... QB... and running backs... Wishbone would kill it. 1 or 2 receivers to just dust single coverage for icing on the cake.

Ohio State has run a lot of 2 TE stuff recently.

Whoever can develop the “ground raid” and merge it with the “air raid” is going to put football on its ear.

The field is too big for defenses to defend. The options are too many for the defense to defend everything. Whoever can figure out how to do both at the same time will win titles with 2-3 star kids.

what would that look like with only 11 players?

It’s using the TEs to create more opportunity in the run game while also using them to run mesh in the passing game.

The future of football is not with 4 wr offenses. It relies too much on talent that very few teams can put together to win. So if you’re a HC making millions, you have 2 choices… figure out a way to win with less talent OR keep trying to run pass heavy offense without the passing qb needed or big time wr needed or the left tackle needed and you’ll be fired. Ending the laughable payday you and your staff have enjoyed.

Don’t wreck the gravy train. Find a way to actually out coach people with the guys you have.

Even the NFL has running qbs now…

I will always ask the question, "If you have 1 on 1 coverage with your best receiver, why don't you use it and go?"

If you have a power running offense with 7 on the line (2 TE's), a power back... and quick back... and a QB that can run and throw...

No way can the defense set up with a real backfield.

I believe in pull em up, go over the top.

Pull em' up and make the guard the initial line

The Redskins under Gibbs made a killing with 2 tight ends and won Superbowls w 3 different qbs.

I always think it's a good idea to zag when everyone else zigs.

Agreed. It wasn't that long ago this was very successful. I mean as much as Aaron Hernández was a terrible person, when he and gronk we on the field at the same time for a few years it was damn near uncoverable.

Not everyone can be the same. WSU isnt going to out I Back SC. And now that everyone has air raid passing scheme in their playbook, what’s the point?

How do you defend two 6’6” big dudes running down the seam? And then the next play try to stop the run with 7 enormous dudes on the line of scrimmage? You can’t. The defense is spread too thin in the passing game and beaten like a drum with numbers at the point of attack.
