It was just one play, but McClain got little to any push against one of the guards, but the center also might have had a piece of him on that play.

Are you calling him out based on a short video clip of day 2 of spring practice? hmmm

Probably more on calling out the coaches. He went into spring ball expecting to be on the 2 deep at O Line and challenging for a starting position. Now he is a DT on second and soon to be third string. When the regular season starts he will be third string on either the D or O line. He is missing a lot of reps on the O line in spring ball. A situation like that has to be depressing and it "being all for the team is OK" but not to many individual players.He wants to be more than a "big body" who is lost in the shuffle. He came to WSU to play O line and not the D line.

LC, you might be right, but you are overlooking a possibility.

What if Mr. McClain looked at the situation and asked to get reps at DT? He played there in HS. He has watched others play it at WSU for several years. Maybe he asked to try it himself?

It would not be the first time that has happened. He lacks an explosive burst, but he may be able to play NT. If he can learn to stay low and use his hands, he may even be an effective DT.

I don't know him at all. But I wouldn't discount the possibility that this position try out at D line might at least in part be his idea.

True,it may be just conjecture on my part. However,he played the O line in juco ball and is a senior.A switch would have bben better with at least two years to play.
