DJ Rodman

Scholarship math is going to get interesting. Rosario is really the only one I see that would logically move on.

Was hoping he would run it back. He's such an important player for us. Kyle Smith's reaction was great. Jumped into DJ's arms. Did not look like he knew what was coming.

My guess is Chinyelu and Cluff are the only incoming players on scholarship (Gerrits/LaBeau PWOs). By my count that would put us 1 over the limit if Gueye were to come back. Obviously you make room if Gueye decides to come back.

You never know with international players. Hope not but someone like Jakimovski might decide to go back home.

I would be surprised if Gueye came back. But I am also surprised that Rodman is coming back. So, what do I know?

Rosario has had 2 years on redshirt due to injury and 1 year on Redshirt. If he was going to leave WSU, he would have done so already.

I think Gueye is about 33% to 43% chance to leave, and only leaves if he is either projected top pick of 2nd round, or bottom of 1st round.

He is currently about 43rd pick of 2nd round.

If he stays, he could go as high as between #13 to bottom of 1st.

Only other way he leaves, is if he listens to bad advice, or if he has a falling out with WSU/Smith.

I don't think he is susceptible to NIL and transferring, as he would have done that last season.

I also think he doesn't want to leave WSU on a 14-16 type record.

If WSU had 19 wins and NIT/NCAA, I think there would be a higher chance Gueye would leave.

I don’t think they thought he was coming back because they had a senior night for him. The women’s team has 2 listed seniors that they didn’t honor tonight. It’s great he’s back. He’s a great all around person and the school is better having people like him around.

Great to here about DJ very important to team. Gueye might go pro but I don’t see any real threat for him transferring especially since he is not eligible for NIL money.

Jaki is only leaving if he either has a Falling out with WSU/Smith or NIL, or LUCRATIVE EUROPE PRO contract, etc.

He Jaki is a STARTER, or CO STARTER, or Situational Starter, 6th man, FIRST OFF BENCH, about 28 to 33 minutes per game, about 9.5 ppg, 7 rebounds, 1,2 steals, 1,2 assist, low turnovers, 1 block, 1 take a charge, good defense, good leadership, FLOORBURNS, etc, player, at either 4,3, end of this year, next year.

As such he is probably not going anywhere, as if he was going to leave, he already would have done so already.

He only has about a 13% to 23% chance of leaving.

Like Gueye I don’t think Jaki is eligible for NIL money. I’m not positive but I think it has something to do with foreign players student visa. Rodman’s change of heart makes me wonder if he got some sort of NIL money.

With foreign players it’s due to the type of visa. However, there’s talk there are ways to get around it.

Would be great if Rodman received NIL. He’s definitely paid his dues.

Bella and Teder were the other seniors. Bella said she was coming back before the season. It appears Teder will use the COVID year as well.

I think Nankervis had the year to use but obviously chose to move on.

Perhaps someone told all the covid eligible returnees that the world isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. There’s worse places for 22 year olds than Pullman.

Happy for Rodman’s return. Class individual.

Jackson should be back next year too. If MG sticks it out another year which he should, this team could be special next year.

MG absolutely should come back he’s not NBA ready yet and needs more time. Whether he does is another story, we’ve seen a lot of guys bounce in football and basketball who shouldn’t have.

He's getting closer to being NBA ready, but I agree it would do him a lot of good to come back....especially if he can move from the 5 to his more natural 4 spot and have Jackson on the floor at the same time.

Glad Cougar

Gueye will more than likely leave if he’s a sure pick. Big men, even if selected late in the 2nd round, are typically paid on 2-way contracts for 4 years. That’s pretty decent coin.

It definitely wouldn’t hurt Gueye to come back but if he gets a guarantee he should go just like Elleby.

Gueye is currently about #43 in EXPERTS, NBA SCOUTS, MOCK DRAFTS, which is 2nd round of draft, AND HE IS CLIMBING, moving up the mock draft board.

We think he is not ready, but the NBA drafts on POTENTIAL, in substitution of readiness, if they are not ready.

Gueye should return IF he doesn't crack bottom of 1st round, 1st pick of 2nd round, projections, mock drafts, as he can be about #14 to last pick of 1st round if he returns.

What will probably happen, is that he probably will declare, try out for, enter the draft pool, and be evaluated by NBA, and probably told to return, and what to work on, etc, and then withdraw, etc.

But if he doesn't withdraw, and stays in draft, he PROBABLY WILL be drafted about, around #39, or in 2nd round IF he continues to move up draft board from about, around #43.

That said he could SLIP to around, about last pick of draft, to undrafted FA, NBA D League Team at ULTIMATE EXTREME WORST CASE SCENARIO like EFE.

That's why he should return.

But there is about a 33% at minimum to 43% chance at average to 53% chance at high, that he leaves, stays in draft.

But I do think he will not leave and does stay, and will stay at WSU.

I think part of the decision will be not wanting to leave after a 15-16 type season, to go along with not being a 1st rounder yet.

If WSU had won 19,20 games and been NIT/NCAA, Gueye would probably leave, not stay, for draft, as he would be drafted 2nd round.

I hope he does stay, but if he leaves for being drafted 2nd round, will be happy for him, as Gueye is a awesome young man, in addition to being a Coug, and awesome bball player.

If there is little to no chance that they wouldn't move up to #15 of FIRST ROUND, by staying.

The thing is, that there is about a 59% to 63% to 73% to 83% chance Gueye would be drafted as high as #13,14,15, to last pick of 1st round, if he stays

Either way, whether MG comes back or not, a FRONT LINE of STARTERS: Jackson/Jaki/Diongue or Chinyelu or Transfer Cluff.

Backed up by Diongue, Chinyelu, Cluff, Hamon Crespin(if rejoins)

And total front court of Jackson, Jaki, Diongue, Chinyelu, Cluff, Crespin, is a pretty awesome frontcourt.

If MG returns, that would be one of the BEST, DEEPEST frontcourts in Entire Nation, and certainly the best, or 2nd best in PAC 12.

That's of course IF they stay healthy.

But even if 1 or 2 of them get injured, etc, frontcourt should be more then serviceable at worst.

Future is, or should be BRIGHT for WSU, next season.

A 21,22,23,24 regular season win total, and a 11-9, 12-8, 13-7, 14-6 conference record, and 2nd, 3rd in conference finish, and 2,3 Pac 12 tourny wins, and a 5th,6th,7th,8th,9th NCAA tourny seed, and about a 2nd round, Sweet 16, Elite 8 NCAA tourny run, and about 23,24,25,26 TOTAL wins, AFTER everything is said and done, is, or should be the projection, IF, IF WSU is healthy, and if team Jells, develops chemistry, etc, which probably will, would happen.

I wouldn't be surprised if Gueye was picked in the 1st or 2nd round. He has a ton of upside and this is only his 3rd (or 4th) year of organized ball. If he's not picked I hope he comes back. I'm not impressed with the G-League either as a stepping stone or gaining experience. On another note, I continue to be impressed with Rice's and Jackson's commitment to the team. Rice always goes through all pre-game warmups, suited up. Jackson always comes out around the 10 minute pre-game. Both are completely engaged during the game. Also I think Jackson has had a growth spurt. He is noticeably taller than Dioungue and I saw him standing next to a couple of Oregon's listed 7 footers and he seemed taller than them.

The team seems very close. The 2 teammates battling health issues has probably played a part in that but overall they seem like a good bunch of unselfish kids. Unless someone has pro aspirations I don’t think anyone will be looking to leave Pullman.

Also impressed with Rice and Jackson’s commitment to the team! It would have been very easy for one or both of them to go home and be with family during their treatment/recovery. I’m sure they were pressured that way but stayed with the team. Hopefully both young men recover completely both on and off the court.
As for Gueye he has Been playing really well as of late and I’m sure he is moving up in NBA executives minds. He was left off the last mock draft list but when it’s updated next I thing he’ll be back on it.

Rice's medical issue has been well documented, but has anyone heard anything about Jackson's? Seems like most all medical issues in college sport are well known, but DJ's has been kept very hush hush for whatever reason. Just curious if it is out there and I missed it.

Gueye's decision is pretty easy, IMO. If he gets drafted, he's likely going to leave. If he were my son, I'd advise him to do so. As a foreign player, I don't think he qualifies for NIL money. I've heard there are ways to work around that, and if that's the case it would potentially influence his decision. If that's not possible, it's too financially risky to decline an NBA draft pick and return to WSU.

He had his most complete game of the year IMO on Sunday. If he continues this trend for the remaining games, P12, postseason, it’s going to be an easier decision. There were a number of games mid/early season where he looked like a guy that had a long ways to go.
